make sur eyou're not getteing this noise confused with the injectors clicking.

also, one time, i thought i threw a rocker arm shim on my SR but it actually turned out to be a very small exhaust leak. it sounded like a tick because the exhaust gasses were causing the gasket to slap between the manifold flange and the mounting surface on the flange.

does the tick go away when you're fully warmed up?

no the tick doesnt go away when im fully warmed up....and yes the injector tick is there still and i know when my injector tick...however.2 days ago i warmed up the car and nothing then i went into a gas station and motor is off then when done filled up with gas ( 91 ) then motor turn on, and it ticking,,,i was paranoid .when i driving only a little bit of tick.., when i am on the freeway at 5 gears around 2,900rpm-3000rpm at 70, no tick car drove fine , nothing no noises , when i parked , and rev to 2k , the ticking go away...only on idle ( idle at 1100rpm right now ) and i can hear it when i accelerated and it goes away when the car at above 2k ...and well after a good reading , some people said sr are known for ticking or hydraulic lifeter have air in them , or as long as tick tick tick tick sound like it even i should be fine , it seem even to me , and is not like extremely loud . but it noticable sound

i had this same exact problem with my SR. i thought my lifters were bad. i would hear it here and there but then it got worst...

i didnt have oil pressure gauge,

but it turned out that my motor was getting oil hungry... my bent oil pan was right on the oil pickup. so i jst put a new oil pan in and viola! no more ticking.

luckly i was able to save it.

Do you have solid lifters, if so you need to reshim after a certain amount of mileage... Tomei recommend it for their solid lifters.

it dont matter if you put 1qt of oil or 5 qts of oil, if your oil pickup is not feeding the engine properly, its gonna keep ticking.

it could be what every one else said in here also, you need to shime it.

but theres alot of possibilites, im just giving you from MY experience and what could be an easy fix.

check for metal shavings on to bottom of your oil pan, if you get that, then most likely your engine is not gettin sufficient oil throughout the whole motor, in this case atleast.

but GL man.

well to be honest.i dont know...i bough the car with the motor in....and i didnt channge anything at all....and i believe it does have aftermarket lifter..cause the noise is coming from the back of motor and near the notch back area....what are the consequences of rolling around with bad lifter or something...cause i serious dont have money right now..and i dont push my car alot..never seen a drift and drag race before

what was the problem. I have a similar sounding problem to this only mine comes and goes and gets louder as I accelerate. Mine I'm pretty sure is either a weak lifter or low oil pressure

change your oil.. i got lifter tick with a brand new rebuild. It slowly got louder and spun a bearing. Upon draining the oil, i found out i had a half gallon of gas sitting in the crank case. One injector was stuck open and dumping fuel ontop of the pistons everytime i turned the car on. Lifter tick was the warning, i ignored it cause people told me not to worry about it.

check/change your oil.
