Multi Channel Amp advice. . .

Arrighty, I have Infinity Kappa components rated for 90wRMS, and a matching sub rated around 300wRMS. I've got rear plate speakers rated for 50 or 60 watts, but don't really need to amplify them. Here's my question for those of you who know amplifiers: What's a good name in a used amp that I might come by for cheapish on eBay? :P

I don't know what manufacturers to look for, who to avoid. Searching only brings up sales sites which tout whatever they sell as awesome sauce incarnate. I'm looking for sound quality over volume, ideally for something five channel where I can bridge the first channels to my components.

Heck, if any of y'all might have one sitting around collecting dust, PM me :-)

Thankee thankee

This is my experience in the car audio world, only mine,so if you disagree,do just that, donot flame me.

Bazooka amps=hit or miss, depends on the actual model number,if you see one you like,ask/find somebody that has it and ask before bidding.(I've had a mono sub amp from them.)

MTX amps-their speakers aren't the best but I've definitely heard some AWSOME sounding stereos and systems powered by them, and they are usually in a good price range.

Lightning Audio amps-Never ran them, personally. I have lightning audio stiffening cap,4 gauge power line and remote turn on lead, and am like it so much that if I run another system,I'm going to use them again.

Boss-run away!

Pyle amps-are just that, piles of.....I've heard ONE decent system with a pyle amp,but it died not that long after,I'd definitely say stay away.

Blaupunkt-never heard anything bad about them.My dad has a blaupunkt head unit+speakers and it sounds great. They are usually lower priced.

Thats all I can think of for now+I gotta go do a fashion show(model,I'm not fucking gay I promise you....)

EDIT:Just out of curiosity, what sub are you running? I have infinity speakers in the back, and JBL in the front and just sold my Kappa Perfect 10.1D sub.

It's an infinity Kappa 100.1SE-- just bought it, don't have it yet. Perfects would be nice, but are too spensive, and I don't really feel like sharing my music with the world. If they want the music, they can buy the damn CD :P

I have a Sony Xplod something or other in there now with a Kenwood amp (bridged to 150watt). Sounds good, but I really need to amp my speakers, plus I am going to give this sub and amp to my girl.

Now, for more advice. . .
If you were to install a 10" sub and an amp somewhere in your car where it would be out of sight and out of minde (IE: not taking up any hatch space :P), where would you stick it? I've seen some with subs installed on the sides of the rear seats, but I'm not sure how well that would perform. Car is a '92 fastback, btw

I've had very good luck with the late 90's early 00's sony stuff in my old comp car I kicked all but in the sound q portion but due to my not being happy with the sub boxes never could get the spl. USACI has changed the rules involving spl now I wish I had that car. I had a mobile es headunit with a mobile es 210 processor a 404eqx and a 604eqx for the mids, highs and 8's in the doors for mid bass and a mobile es 7527 for the subwoofer if that helps at all. Ive heard there new stuff is not that great though I have a 6 channel zapco right now but those are expensive if you can't get a good deal on them.

Have a box made that fits in the back portion of your hatch,it takes up only minimal, and I do mean minimal room. There is a small ledge that will hold the box in place. When you open your hatch, look at the back inside wall, and follow it to the right or left(I did right, balance driver out better+first aid kit on the right side..) and there is a space just big enough to put a 10" woofer in a box there. Thats where my old Kappa Perfect used to be. If you have a box made like that, might as well have it so that the amp can mount on it,maybe? That one I don't know about...

JL/Nakamichi

But that's probably more than what you're willing to spend.

To power that Infinity sub, I'd just buy the Polk MOMO 2-channel and bridge it.. 550w @ 4ohms and its dirt cheap

Either that or get one of the new MTX amps or the V12 Alpine amps... have fun!
