metal shavings in oil.(ka24e)
hey guys this is 1st time writting in the forums.
I got a problem that im hopin u can help out wit. My car is a automatic 89 240sx coupe w/ 180k. had it for 1 year. now for about a week its been boggin in 1st and 2nd gear between 2000 and 3200 rpms. It also has a rough ass idle as if its ready to stall ranges from 400-800 rpms. IT has stalled twiced in the week. well i figured it was a misfire so replaced my cap since one terminal was melted and burnt. it ran perfect on my trip to ocean city, the way back it was boggin again. next day it was perfect. now last nite im driven on the beltwayit bogs alot worse so i pull over to check my oil and i found metal shavings on the dip stick, think i was imganing this i doulble checked , found more on the dipstick. IM FUCKIN SCARED SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST AND ONLY CAR . Now i kno the timing chain was worn so im thinkin that it may have a broken link(doesnt rattle like b4) or sumthin or that im only running on 3 cylinders. please help as to wat i should examine when i goto work on monday. i work for nissan, mazda and suzuki. i already have intentions to put a s13 sr20det red top in it but i need the KA to run til i get the SR.

ok. i found out the metal is from chain rubbing a hole in my block.(will fix soon). now with the bogging issue i realized that it only does it whenever my driving or headlights are on. now i kno i have an electrical issue but i dont know where to began. i have already unhooked each side marker,no difference. im just very lost.

ok i fixed it. the o2 sensor had a bad connection due to my air/fuel ratio gauge. i disconnected my gauge from the o2 sensor and it drives perfect, for a 180k mile car. im gonna leave the gauge disconnected and just wait til i get the sr and put a boost gauge in its place.
