So I have been meaning to do this update for a touch over three weeks, but better late then never! Also, with GridLife Round 2 being this weekend, I can't really wait any longer lol. Last month my car saw it's first time attack event, which was GridLife Round 1 at Gingerman Raceway. With myself never having driven the car before, I asked if the driver, Eric, who had been doing the shake downs would mind running the car until I actually take possession and have some time to acclimate myself to the vehicle. Thankfully he said yes and it was go time for it to race! The event itself was up there as one of my favorite events, but the weather was not all that great. It was a three day event and with it being the cars first event...some issues did arise.

On day one the weather was perfect, but we had a coolant leak for the first time on track. That issue put the car out of commission for the rest of the day, until the part could be sourced and replaced the following morning. Fortunately day one was only qualifying and didn't actually include any Heat laps.

Day two was great that the car was all back together, but it rained...THE WHOLE DAY! The car was limited to its lowest boost setting "wastegate pressure" and stuck competing on a wet track all day. The best lap for the day was a 2:11.231 which was not all that promising.

For day three, things were looking promising. The track was a bit dryer and the car was able to actually grip, but not go up in boost. The car was performing well, but we ended up frying the alternator during the final heat...bringing the day to a halt once more. Everyone at Touge Factory and myself thought that the car didn't place, so everyone packed up and left. Little to everyones knowledge, both Touge Factory cars were on the podium! Mikes ridiculous S14 claimed 1st place Track Modified RWD with a 1:41.812 and my 350z snatched 2nd place Track Modified RWD with a 1:42.610 with Eric behind the wheel. Thank you as always to Touge Factory for building an incredible machine!

As I know, all most of you want to see are some photos and video. Photos first and video last Enjoy and stay tuned for the next update for GridLife Round 2!

To start it off, here are some of the other vehicles that went on track over the weekend. (some of these photos are from Super Street Magazines cover of the event)

One last little update. My vehicle was in Super Streets August issue this month for the event coverage of Tuner Galleria. I was pretty excited about that. Also, in July the September issue will be getting released which will have a full feature of the vehicle. Make sure you pick up a copy!

This is my favorite build thread yet. Amazing car. The brakes alone make my dick hard. What was your final build total if you don't mind? Just curious for a ball park, I think we all are respectfully.

I have so much to update on this thing lol. Last post of mine was 3 years ago. A lot has changed and I'll give a real update tonight.

The entire electronics system is out of the vehicle and will be going virtually all motec items, etesta, racegrade, racespec, MSEL, and so on. Will also be using a Bosch DBW. New wire harness to be built obviously.

Turbo setup is being changed, since the engine was beefed up a bit more. Engine got kelford 184-st camshafts, shimless valves, and 1mm larger pistons.

Dry sump system is being changed a bit to function a bit more seamless. ARE spintric, better functioning catch can, and shorter plumbing is being integrated.

Changing up the cooling system to be more out of the way, in the engine bay

Motor will be moving further back...roughly 5 inches.

Car has a much bigger diffuser on it now

Been getting some good seat time over the past couple years and definitely having fun with it. Should become even more fun lol.

well...its been awhile!

So I typed up a whole thing, must have taken to long and when I went to
post, it made me reload the page and everything was lost. I'll try to go into
the same detail as before, but we'll see!

It has been some time since I have posted on here and I'd like to start
changing that, since a TON has changed with the vehicle over the years. I
tracked the car for a few years and had a blasted doing so, but everything
must continue to progress!

We planned on running a hall sensor on the cams, but the ProEFI 128 EMS
did not like the setup at all. After talking to a few tuners and ProEFI, we
pulled the EMS system and then planned to go a bit more extreme with the
overall setup. We started by pulling the engine and sending it off the
Mazworx for a check up and some slight changes.

*****After pulling the engine, I picked up a hefty sized pre-preg
foam core carbon fiber diffuser. It was a fairly nice diffuser, but shipping was
a pain to say the least. anyways, a broken end plate had to get replaced and
then the bumper had to be cut up to accept the diffuser. while doing this, I
decided "why not release some air from around the rear wheels". So I cut
the back corners off the car.

*****Then came the bumper cutting

*****Once it was all cut up, I took it over to MA-Motorsports and
asked if Brian could work his magic on making some nice paneling to cover
the holes I created.

*****Prior to taking the car to MA, I ordered a carbon fiber dash
from OCT Composites. Once again the package was delivered damaged and
the dash had several small cracks. Most cracks would get cut off during the
trimming process, but a couple needed epoxy to clean them up.

*****The initial trim was roughly 4 inches off each side and 3 inches
off the front. Obviously a lot more needed to come off, but it allowed up to
actually start marking and measuring how much more.

After cutting off a further 2-3 inches off each side and roughly 4 more inches off the front, it was in an acceptable place.

*****Then, while it was at MA-Motorsports for the rear corners, Brian
also did some razzle dazzle with mounting 4 Mini QuikLatchs to the dash
support and mounted soundly in the car.

I'll post more shortly, but I don't want to lose it all again. I have a ton more
to type and post. thanks for all the love guys!

Oiling update

So while the engine is out, I decided I should make the oiling system more
bullet proof and all around better.

To start things off, I got rid of my old generation res. and picked up a new ARE
res. with a fluidic top and a spintric deflector fitting. The new ARE tank also
allowed for a dip stick, which is always a plus!

Clearly the reason for the spintric deflector fitting, was because I also picked
up an ARE Spintric III Air/Oil seperator. Absolutely gorgeous item and
ridiculous quality. This should help keep the oil from getting aerated as
much and in turn, allow it to cool down better and last longer.

To follow that, I picked up a Peterson oil primer. This will allow me to
preprime/preoil the engine and allow it to Lord willing, last longer.

Last major item for the oiling is an Improved Racing inline thermostate. This
will allow it to bypass the cooler and get the engine up to temp faster. Im
also making the lines just long enough, so if need be, I can bypass the
thermostat.

I'll try to knock out another update shortly!

AH damn! Yeah, I slipped putting that photo in lol.

I'll put up actual photos later and do some explaining, but this is what changed.
- Supertech Shimless In/Ex Valves
- CP 90mm Pistons (originally 89mm)
- Mazworx Dual Hall Sensor Kit
- Kelford 184-st Camshafts
- Taarks VVL solenoid relocation block
- Plazmaman 8-Injector Intake Manifold
- Bosch 82mm DBW Throttle Body

I'm sure a few other things I missed, plus I haven't got to changing out the exhaust side yet. The biggest change that happened is definitely the electronics side of things.

Yup, it has the Mazworx dry sump kit. I kind of wish I meant with the Ross Performance pan/pump setup, so the pump was turbo side and the alternator was intake side. The Pump can cool itself with oil, but the alternator just bakes lol. Maybe in a few years I'll change it, but that's something I wish I did off the start.

Since I didn't realize I posted it in the backround, but irritatedmax
did...here is the engine update. The goal this next phase of the build was to
get more power quicker and safer.

- Kelford 184-st Camshafts
I had P12 camshafts in, but these are a bit more suited for what we were
going for in terms of power curve.

- Supertech Shimless In/Ex Valves
I went the shimless route to ensure that the head was more solid and less
prone to any unwanted activity up there lol

- CP 90mm Pistons (originally 89mm)
when cleaning up the engine and honing, Mazworx honed it to a spec that
required me to move up in piston size. Unhappy about it, but it is what it is.

- Mazworx Dual Hall Sensor Kit
with the plan of moving the engine back 5-6 inches, I wanted to remove
anything I could from behind the engine. This stuck out quite a ways, so It
needed to go. In addition, the hall sensor style is much more reliable and
easier to tune.

- Taarks VVL solenoid relocation block
again, with wanting to move the engine back and needing to move things out
of the way, this was a no brainer. I then trimmed unnecessary metal off the
solenoid block, for easier mounting.

- Plazmaman 8-Injector Intake Manifold
So as much as I enjoyed the dual plenum of the TF-Works manifold, we ran
into some issues with only 4 injectors. the 2000cc injectors were creating
problems at idle and we needed some smaller ones to take over the idle part.
Part of that issue is it was just not dialing down enough for a smooth idle and
we also wanted to ensure we have some extra room up top for some more
power. While putting it on, I ordered some Titanium hardware for both the
fuel rail and the throttle body. the hardware came in at half the weight of
what was supplied.

- Bosch 82mm DBW Throttle Body
the 90mm billet throttle body that we had before worked fantastic, but we
wanted a more tune capable setup and something we could look at data a bit
easier with. The new throttle body checks both those boxes and then some.

I'LL TRY TO DO THE ELECTRONICS UPDATE TONIGHT!

Electrical update

This is my most favorite update that I have done in a LONG time LOL!

As explained earlier, I decided to change everything out, electrical. I also wanted to replace it with something that was...

1 - A truly customize-able system, where I could add almost anything in and
still make everything communicate and work together.
2 - Able to be used with virtually any other engine platform/chassis, should one
of those change in the future.
3 - Well known and highly regarded as tier one companies.

I think I hit those marks on the head with my choice of electronics. There
will be a second electronics update, as I still have a number of additional
items ordered or that I need to order in. Anyways, here it is...

Here are the items in the photo, for those who are curious.
- Motec M130 EMS
- Motec PDM15 (2)
- Motec C127 Display
- Motec E816 Expander Module
- Motec Rotary Dial Keypad
- Motec 15 Button Keypad (not pictured)
- Motec LTC NTK Module
- Motec UTC Module
- Motec Pressure Sensors (3)
- RaceGrade TC8 (Thermocouple to CAN)

To Finish off today's post...my two kill switches. Hats off to Instagram
account (Gotigorohome) Richie in California for doing some amazing
wiring on these kill switches for me. He did tefzel wire, DR-25 sleeves,
Raychem boots, service loops, Kapton tape, and Autosport mini connectors.
He also potted the back of the switches, so they are solid forever lol. He also
supplied a 3D printed template to use when mounting the switch and
laminated connector pin out sheets for all connectors/kill switches

- Sobek Grenade Pin Kill Switch
- This will be goin on the exterior of the vehicle and will allow for an easy shut down of the vehicle.

- Billet Push/Pull switch
- This will go within reach of the driver.
- this has a green/red light ring around it to show when it's on/off
- it will also flash both colors, if I program it to, for an emergency

Well, that's it for today!

That whole batch of parts is bringing this car to another level. Phase 1 was top notch and Phase 2 certainly isn't disappointing. Great update/rebuild.
