I don't understand why people are flipping out thinking that this one dude represents Japan, and it is being served at local burger joints. This guy is a genius and just because it's possible doesn't mean there will be a demand for it in countries like Japan. Japanese are extremely clean people and I cannot see them embracing this as a society. This scientist was given a challenge from Tokyo waste management and he succeeded. I bet people with money globally are already looking into this stuff just because it's 20x more expensive and rare than regular meat haha.

Japan has always been touted as the country that can never come up with new inventions/innovations, but can improve existing ones to no end. I think at best they're just trying to break that assumption they've put themselves in with things like this.

Simply put it's more of an "I did it just to do it" thing.
