Nordlock, fails. If you use Inconel studs you don't have to worry about them stretching. If you use oem studs and Inconel nordlock (which I don't think they make) the stud will still stretch and you will have the same problem. The problem is not with the nuts vibrating loose it is the expansion and contraction of the studs. Safety wire fails, nordlock fails, stage 8 fasteners without the Inconel studs fail. I've been there done that.
Also from what I remember, the rb26dett use Inconel studs for the turbos.

Either way, I've always used grade 12.9 bolts with the original nordlocks and jet nuts; granted, I wasn't using a monster turbo, but I don't see how that's any different. |

I've order off him 20-30 times and never used a container always air freight. Would have to be a very bulky item or alot of something to be worth it.

The following weekend the task of getting the guards prepped and highfilled was set before it going off to Hypertune for quiet abit of fabrication work this coming week. I arranged to get the car towed over on Friday afternoon and after a mixup we got it over there by early evening. Some shots from the weekend.
The rear guards pre all the work beginning. The car all packed up in the shed. Can see the height of it compared to the hatch next to it and needs to come down at least 50mm. Some more skims of bog. Ended up with more than I had hoped but alot of it gets sanded off again. Other side already sanded back. Front guards here ready for the final skim to be sanded back the koguchi power writing already blocked out of the top of them. Passenger side now sanded back. Front guards fitted up bog all done. Just had to pull them off and scotch bright the corners so the high fill sticks without issues. Cleaned up the rear tailgate with some scotch bright and thinners. Looks alot less pig now I think Front guards ready for highfill More soon! |

Rear quarters all masked up ready for highfill.
First coat of highfill. Mist of black over the top so the high and low spots show up when we start sanding it back later on. Left the car for 12 hours so the highfill can dry then its off to hypertune on a tow truck at sparrows fart the next day. More soon! =) |

So the car got dropped off the following Monday morning. Luckily I drove over with the tow truck cause the guys weren't open when I got there (my fault for not checking). The following Saturday Jimmy was nice enough to help me get the motor over there as well.
The two of us were able to lift it into the micra o' death with some creative thinking. Thankfully the guys were at the other end to help us get it out. It was quiet amusing to see the micra pull up with it sitting in the back. :P Micra with 700hp+ capable SR20VET Good to see John getting some coverage lol Two tie downs held her upright. New home on this trolley bench. Quick test fit of the cusco engine mounts. Hopefully engine in soon for the first test fit once we get the gearbox conversion sorted. |

I went over to hypertune this week and installed the new Nissan water pump which John had gotten in for meand also the new P12 CAS.
The CAS proved a more difficult job than I first intended as the bung Mazworx had installed in the sensor hole was in there super tight and I couldn't get it out. I had to bring my tool kit back the next day and have another shot we made up a special tool with a 32mm socket and a long bolt to get it out. No waterpump Waterpump went slightly overboard with sealant will use much less next time! Here is a shot of the bung after we got it out. Its actually quiet neat. I'll be saving this if I ever move to a crank trigger setup in the future. You can see the slot in the end of the exhaust cam is offset so the CAS can only go in one way. And vise versa Couple of shots without the rocker cover on. Everything so nice and clean. =) More soon! =) |

Has anyone had any experience with FuelLab pumps and FPR's?
They're looking pretty awesome on paper interested to see if anyones using them or knows someone who is. 52902 Electronic Fuel Pressure Regulator - Fuelab.com 41401 Prodigy Fuel Pump High Pressure EFI In Line - Fuelab.com Loving the fact my needs would be able to be met with a single pump and the FPR controls the pump speed as required so your not needlessly overheating the fuel at idle etc. You'd want to be sure its controlling it properly though I guess otherwise its all bad. |

Been making progress on the car not as much as I hoped for but your always going to hit snags along the road. The engine and box couldn't go in because of a small adapter plate issue which I wasn't happy with so we're changing it. Should be done early this week so I can hopefully so I might be able to get it in this week or Saturday at the latest.
Got some nice progress shots though CNC machines are so cool :P. Here is the 100mm core sitting very close to the final position the end tanks will be custom made to suit. Pulled the front hubs and control arms off again so we could easily handle the front subframe. Pulled the subframe out and bolted it up to the engine with the cusco engine mounts. Again. I've decided to run with the Hypertune intake plenum while its much more expensive it also will work well with their throttle body and piping. I also like the modular design so if there is any fatiguing issues in the future I can just replace certain sections of it. Anyways here are some pictures of my intake runners being made on their horizontal CNC machine. various different angles Gear box picked up all back together. The front of the bell housing has been machined up to accommodate the plate being made. Car on the hoist ready to go the rest of the holes in the firewall have now been welded up. Also picked up my reconditioned power steering pump while it was out. Also has received a huge scrub up and actually looks pretty clean now! The pulley will be swapped over when its ready to go on. More soon! |
