Battery light always on

Whether or not the key is in my car or not the battery light is always on, does anyone know why this is? Or if it's a common problem?

Did you check the battery?... Lol just kidding, my truck had this problem with it staying on. and I took the battery cable off (positive) for a half hour and put it back on. And it hasn't came on since

I had this problem as well about a year ago when the battery light is on check the voltage when the car is off and both terminals disconnected should be at 12 volts. test OK?

then put terminals back on and start the car check voltage again should be 14 volts.

if everything is ok battery is holding charge and alternator is charging then there might be an issue with the voltage regulator in the alternator. at that point just replace the alternator

Cool I'll try the above mentioned things and see what happens. I also shipped the wiring harness back off because there were a few plugs that were wrong.
