Rollerblading has evovled ten folds since the 90s, the tricks, the style in which they are done. There is a bunch of variety in blading, which is good. Watch a new section of anyone, mainly Chris Farmer and Broskow, both of which who only do impossible tricks.

Rollerblading looks gay to everyone, but that wont ever stop me from skating.

It is the same as with any other thing. Usually only the people who are into it will be truly able to appreciate all the subtleties involved, while to an outsider it may not say much.

it never died, and it has evolved more than you would ever know. after 8 years of not even thinking about rollerblades, i googled it and was blown away by the new shit. incredible stuff.

I think it died because i havent seen any bladers in parks, on the street or anywhere else.
Ive seen like 2 bladers in the last year.

I also think its pretty boring and cheese cause i watch skateboarders do bigger, smoother tricks on the exact same obsticles. And the skateboards arent attached to their feet.

I also dont see a big advancment in any of the tricks.
whats new since the late 90? (skateboarding has a bunch of new tricks, literally NEW, never been done before except in dreams.)
there is only a certain amount of different positions you can do with it attached to your feet.
then you have frontside, backside, regular and fakie.
and 180/360/540 in, and those same rotations out, right??

Whats the learning curve?
i know i could do a couple of those grinds day 1.
and i could go up and down a 3 set of stairs no problem too.

I am sure its fun, i guess i just like more of a challenge.

I do both skateboard and blade and i love to blade more then skateboard but that's because i never really took to skateboarding. I can kick flip and do some grinds but i never really liked it. I only skateboarded because that's what all my friends did when i was younger. Once i decided to blade full time i learned way more in less time. Yeah blading is easier then skateboarding but it still takes a shit ton of skill to grind a 16 stair rail or ride vert.

I love it when i go to the park and kids call me a fag or fruit booter and i just shit on them anyway when i bring my board out or just chase them off with my blades on. Im not bad ass at either but fuck man if you don't like it don't say shit only makes you look ignorant when you start talking shit.


I would love to see some of the people in here try this for a week straight. Go skate for 8 hours then let me know how you feel the next day. Shit takes allot stamina and skill.


This sport has grown 10 fold over the last 21 years there are tricks done today that no one would of though being done in 1990 and thats the same for skate boarding. Skating is bigger because its more mainstream and get way more exposure then aggresive inline skating.

The rollerblading vs. skateboarding vs. whatever arguments always seem to be perpetrated by little children who are not even good at either sport. All the rollerbladers and skateboarders over here who have been around for a while are friendly with each other, and props are given whenever something cool is landed, no matter by who.

long ass rails have been 50/50'd by skateboarders long before this video.
And grinds on skateboards are harder because of the lack of a individuals foot/contact surface, to adjust independently.
...and of course, its not attached to your foot.

I would be disappointed if a blader couldnt grind the distance of any rail.
You are standing on a slick plastic surface, and just balancing, not extremely difficult.
I bet a lot of you bladers could do some long rails if you just tried.


And I am not sure that kinded rail grind could look any worse.
Is style not important in rollerblading?
cause squating like your shitting in the woods, during an entire grind doesnt fly in skateboarding, no matter how impressive the trick.
And bladers are ok with one boot stopping, and the other one going, then the other one moving again?? kinda like inching their way along?

I think this actually gets to the root of the issue.

ITs so easy, and fast to learn, that it gets old very fast.
So you dont have anyone living that lifestyle like surfing, skateboarding or snowboarding.

And it gets no respect.
So when a blader tries to act like they are really handling business, they get looked at as a joke.

The truth is, its not that hard.

This is the first decent video posted.
Hopping and skipping around on some curb just looks dumb.

But this guy rides a lot smoother and has good style.
He also realizes that the RollerBlades are attached to his feet so he really should be getting towed in and going bigger then skateboarders.
And it also opens him up to bigger tricks, and spots that skaters and BMX guys cant ride, which also makes it alot more impressive.

Pretty awesome and impressive stuff.
everyone should blade like this guy. (is he like the Jamie Thomas of blading?)
To bad that other video of him has a bunch of bullshit lifestyle shit i could care less about, couldnt watch it.

It looks like everyone removed the middle wheels and just puts really slick plastic there?
Is that the way, or is that looked down upon?
(kinda like in 1990, when skateboarding had "everslick" decks for awhile. basically plastic covered bottom layer to last longer and slide easier.)

Plenty of people have been doing such tricks, and better.


That makes it even sadder. All the sponsored skateboarders I know are really cool when it comes to getting along with rollerbladers, and vice versa. None of them talk down on each other's activity of choice.

I also do not understand how someone who likes drifting can make fun of anything else as being 'gay.'
Especially when their car was baby blue or wrapped in purple rainbow vinyl.
