s14 sr running hot, idling fine
been researching my cars issue, and the most common solution is changing the temp sensors. car is 95 s14 with kouki s14 sr20. it runs fine until getting hot, then want to go into limp mode. thermostat has been pulled, and there are no visible leaks or puddles that form under the car. its running dual electric fans hard wired to switch with an aluminum radiator. it has coolant, and has been bled. next cheapest idea on fix is sensors. question is for ecu temp sensor use kouki s14 sensor, and for temp gauge sensor use zenki sensor...correct?

1. figure out if it really is hot. Define hot. 212*F is not really hot. 225*F is getting up there though. If your engine is passing 88*C though you should figure out why.
2. Once you establish whether the car is actually "hot" or if its just your gauges reporting false information, decide whether the problem is your fans (go back to the clutch fan), your coolant flow (check water pump, coolant color / quality, add distilled water flush the radiator etc...), or if the timing is retarded (will contribute to a "hot" engine) |
