A few questions. Will they be able to be serviced in the US or at least get replacement disks. So it comes with bearings and oil or just oil?? IF it comes with the bearings i will have to pick this up becuase that would be the cost for a kaaz plus bearings

If you are reffering to the ATS Deftforce then Yes, it does come with Bearings, seals, oil, and all.

And yes these LSDs are serviceable in the US and parts are readily available too!

does your S14 have a VLSD? IF not then the Deftforce requires no mods for install.

Nutipah,

All Deftforces are Type R and all regular Metals are the S Type. Type R will have a harder initial lock aswell as in some cases have more discs. What kind of motorsports do you participate in? Tell me that and ill tell you what diff is best.

what is the advantage of carbon over deftforce. i know carbon is quieter, but is it as strong (locking power) as metal? what would u recommend for drifting? carbon or deftforce? they both have the same amount of plates right? which is..

The deftforce is THE diff for drifting it locks hard and abrupt like a 2way metal LSD should. The Carbon LSD has very smooth transitions and does not clunk like metal diffs. I use the Carbon in my car for drifting but i do HPDEs and autocrosses with it. I fealt the 2.0way Carbon was the diff for me.

would carbon plates last as long as metal plates? what about the price for the rebuild kit, would carbon cost more than the metal rebuild kit?

so the carbon one is more for street.. quiet and soft but doesnt lock as hard.. it might be nice to consider for the street, since i dont want all the clunking noises.. by METAL, do you mean helical like s15 diffs, or clutch type?

When i say Metal LSD i mean Metal clutch plates as apposed to Carbon plates. This is really only covered when reffering to ATS LSD as they are the only ones to offer Carbon Plates.

The Carbon does indeed wear faster, about 25% faster then the traditional metal LSD. Thats saying alot too because the ATS LSD will last for very, very long time before needing rebuild if properly maintained. The rebuild for Carbon is substantially more then the Metal of course, but again, these diffs last a long time... even under heavy abuse.

I suppose the Carbon could be considered more of a "Street" diff due to its quietness and NO clunking. IT will still lock the wheels when going around tight corners and the tire will chirp a little. I would say the carbon is more Road Race or Autocross oriented as it does not lock as abruptly as the Deftforce or regular Metal LSD.

). You started off im my group for a while, but "graduted" early

Whats the price for the carbon diff?

How long is the service interval for the gear oil on a generally street driven car that will likely see parking lot autocrosses and maybe some lapping days?

Carbon diff Zilvia price is $1365.00 shipped. Oil change interval is 2-3 times a year... depending on how much you drive it. if you daily drive it and beat it up alot id say 4-5 times a year or every 2 oil(engine) changes.

i have already decided on a 1.5 way but not sure if i should go for carbon or deftforce. i road race and drift, what do you suggest?

For drifting you would want a 2.0 way in most cases as you are on and off throttle and the 2.0 way will keeo the wheels spinning on both acceleration and deceleration.

I personally do alot of Grip driving in my car and some drift. I chose the Carbon for its smooth engagement so the car does not upset when entering and exiting turns. I prefer the 2.0 way as my driving style incorporates alot of late braking and trail braking. Ive driven both and just feel more comfortable with the light understeer characteristics of the 2.0 way conifguration.

how much for a carbon 1.5way for a 95 R33 GTS-T??? i will be daily driving my car as well as autox and HPDE events and in the winter time......i don't want something as aggressive as a 2 way for a street car
