I'm getting the RC51 I decided. As some of you know I used to own a Ducati, I'm selling that tomorrow...and getting the RC51 in it's place.
I guess I caught the bike bug once again, I just can't help but love the things. I don't really know what sparked my interest. I do know that I don't want another Ducati, at least, not until I'm good and rich and can afford the upkeep of the damn things. Anyways, it was between that and the GSX-R, but the RC51 is a special bike...you hardly see them on the roads (I've only ever seen one on the road and that was like a year ago). They have a special aura about them, and are still in the twin category. I'd be stepping up in power big time too...this baby has a 172MPH top speed stock...not too shabby. There are oh so many more reasons I chose this bike over the ones listed above, but you don't want to hear it...I however, do want to hear what you would've done. Edited fo' gramma |

i personally have a cousin with a steel shin, and know a kid who has more titanium than calcium in his bones....
besides my family would disown me if i bought a bike the biggest problem that i have with bikes is the other people on the road who don't respect/look out for them as they would cars

Yeah, that's the biggest problem and most danger that all riders face. But you really learn how to ride to avoid the ones that aren't paying attention. I can understand where you're coming from though, I've been in a few accidents on a bike myself, none serious though. |

Actually, I can't remember, but I do know that Norton was supposed to come out w/ a bike called the Nemesis that has a 320HP V8 in it...I don't think it's going to happen anymore, but it was a concept for a while.

THe VTR1000 is already a damn fast bike to begin with. Gotta love teh V-Twins.. |

Yes, the other name for the RC51 is the RVT1000. Your friend has good taste! V-twins are the bomb, excellent power curve and very torquey. The RC doesn't have as much power down low as other twins, but after all, it is a street legal race bike...
I just did my finances, and it's looking good. I do need a new job though, so I'm going to find that before I jump into this. |

Lol...no busa for this guy...no sirrrrrrr. I'm a canyon (even though there are no canyons around here ) carver, and the busa is just made to go really fast, not handle well. That's why I would have chosen it's little bro, the GSX-R 750...but yup, my mind's made up for the RC51, it's just so sexy lookin.
I picked up the finance application today, although, I'm still not turning it in until I find a new job (even though that may look bad on the app...hell I'll put that I was there for 3 months or so). |

Thanks! I'm going next week to get the bike (of course, assuming I get approved for the financing).

the r1 just looks nasty.
hear bad things about handling and the uncomfortable seat. it feels as if u sit to up front. their powerband is great and is really geared correctly as for braking, i test drove one and didnt like the braking, not aggressive enough. i am actually going to buy an r6 because i dont have the money right now for the r1 and dont really need the power the r1 has. i just need a bike that likes to have its front wheel in the 12 o'clock position, for wheeling i love the gsxr but i believe they are like civics and everyone has one. IMO

I don't really like the matte black paint that they use on the new R1. It would be ok if they used it on the entire bike, and not just a little part of it (although the RC51 is the same way, it just looks better the way they did it ). The R1 is sooooo damned uncomfortable it's not even funny. I sat on that thing and in 30 seconds my ass went numb (ok, so it really didn't, but it was hella uncomfortable)!
The RC was actually made to keep the front wheel on the ground, like I said, it's a race bike adopted for the streets, it's all about the twisties, where the fun's at. I'm not a big fan of wheelies, I do them once and a while, but I'd rather know that when I get on the throttle, I'm going to stay planted coming out of a corner. But that's my style of riding. Good luck on the R6, they are nice bikes too (much better than the R1 IMO)! [edit]BTW the V-Twin Super Hawk loves to wheelie, ever consider that bike?[/edit] |
