sick of my 240...back to the fd3s drift car
So today I tried to get my KA24de in the 240, but im missing a passenger side motor mount....AAAHHHHHH! So I said fuck the 240 and started working on the 7 after sitting for a whole year. I got the motor out of the car and tore it apart. This is my first rotary rebuild and i feel 100% confident on the rebuild. Its already 10x easier than rebuilding an SR...lol . Tomorrow i will clean it and fix the port job I got from a local rx7 builder. I was a little suspec on what kind of porting i got. The inside of the ports look good, but the shape of the large street port looks iffy. i will be fixing this in the next few days. I already ordered RA super 3mm apex seals and pineapple racing heavy duty gasket set. After the initial tear down we suspected to had warped seals after a long session on the dyno at PFsupercars. The car sounded like it lost compression, but it still made 421hp @ 16psi. Well that wasnt the case. One of the apex seals actually broke at the corner and it didnt tear the engine to pieces. I drove it like that for a good month and 2 events.....What a dummy!!!
the first session at PF. This dyno session left the engine with warpped apex seals, but I still drove it for about 4 months. http://www.youtube.com/user/ballinnm.../5/q6tNKhM3iyA This was after the second rebuild with low compression and a suspec apex seal failure: http://www.youtube.com/user/ballinnm.../4/D2BifQDA_7M Second time ever drifting this 420hp horse with no powersteering, a t78, and most important lack of skills. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. what it looks like after a year sitting. 421hp out of a 1.3l...lol A little heat to get the 54mm nut lose. Rotary porn about to happen streetport looks a little suspec The culprit.....apex seal is broken and it didnt crumble into a million pieces. And there you go. Took a rotary apart in less than a day.

If I owned an FD the only association I would have with a 240 is when I was with my (new) friends and I said 'yeah, you won't believe the shit I used to drive...........240sx............haaaaaaaaaaaaahaa aaaaaaaaa.'

A bridgeport would kill any down low torque I need to drift this car. I will have a large streetport and a borg warner s362 powering this car. I will also be adding a water/meth system, so hopefully it turns about 500hp. To the 240 comment: I have owned about 15 240's and have always liked them. about 2 years ago I sold my kouki and bought this FD. i said the same thing when I was 240less. I got an FD now who needs a 240, but I missed my car and I bought a coupe to learn how to slide on. Im ready to play with the big boys now and hopefully this Fd will last me til the end of this year.

I tried my hands on a little porting today. I stopped by harbor freight to pick up some sanding tools. I also found carbide bit a true value hardware store for a decent price.
the old port vs. the new port. How it sits!!!! eewww The garage. waiting on a standalone and a tune......razmus car that I helped build!!!!

I haven't worked on rotaries in years. I'd love another 7.

i like the port job, people just dont realize how simple the rotary engine is....and the 1.3 liter is a beast. Btw are you planing on keeping the twin turbo set up or are you going with a single big turbo??

Today I was going to clean all the parts in a partd washer to start engine assembly and found both rotors to be in paper weight shape. This truely sucks because I has these rotors weighted and clearenced for 3mm apex seals during my first build. Im lucky that I had bought a spare engine from jeremy a while back and I took it apart today and the rotors are usuable.
The following pictures are damaged rotors from detonation. It could have came from unburt fuel in the combution chamber. Front rotor: Rear rotor: Both rotors: Dont know exactly when this happend, but i suspect it was after a long dyno session at PFsupercars. The car was on the dyno for a long time and after the last pull the engine changed pitch and it had low compression. Im gonna get the other two rotors I have and installed 2mm apex seals back in. I dont want to deal with 3mm apex seals again. -Danny-

Probably gonna be rad regardless but I wouldn't drift an Fd. I'd stunt on the regular picking up jailbait. Car would never see 80 mph.
