so u go to the next best thing, 235s or 245s up front. end of story. you can talk all day how great it would be a good front size 225/18 but in reality. its NEVEr going to happen. my friends and i have tlaked about this for...no joke, over 5years. since we started running 17s and 18s on our drift cars. no good company makes a tire with GOOD/awesome grip in a 225/18 size. end of story.

so you man up and go 235 or 245s up front.

ps: i never let anyone borrow anything off my car, running or not. because its your car. you should do better maintenance. i did borrow one thing once and it was a total regret. someone asked to borrow my MAFS once and i turne dthem down. fix your car and make it tip top before going to events. there's really NO excuse, imo.

Feds SS suck up front. i hate those tires. i only run them in rear because they are the cheapest

oh and as far as the star spec comments. as far as front tires go, 1) they last forever if you dotn suck and understeer and 2) if they are running low, i change them out WELL before they are 'end of life'.
for rear tires: never tried them. i prefer MAXXIS Z1 drifts if im buying 'expensive' rear tires. if im broke or a practice event, SS595.

Furthermore not everyone can afford to have several sets of spendy fronts laying around at an event.......I am one of those guys. I must use every last ounce of whatever it is.....sucks but that's the breaks

I've been in that boat too. But I was smart: 15" tires. Keep out of 17/18 land until your finances/job is good

Weird, I've run RSRs in the front severaL times and they were pretty/amazing. Ran them at both drift and road racing events. They never got greasy. Ran my old daily tires in the rear once they weren't streetable, and at 65 psi, they spun well and had good grip. Loved them.

Works for me-now i know how to take your words. For me its not that I have to eat Ramen to afford my car fix I simply have to bust my ass to afford it so, waste not want not if you know what I mean.

Maybe I just had a freak set of RSR's--either way my mind is made up.

yokohama s.drives are available in 215 and 225 35-18s. IIRC last time i saw tommy's car it had s.drives. as far as available brands in those sizes, ive used fk452s and s.drives in 225/35s and the yokos were far better. they also gripped surprisingly well for being mounted on 10s.

btw, billwatcher runs 215/35s on his 18x10s up front. he drifts on them, ask him what brand and how he likes it.

a friend of mine runs 215/35s. with knuckles he scrapes the wheel lip while drifting at full lock. super small sidewalls. consider that too

but dousan is abso fucking lutely right. set your car up properly, then make necessary changes accordingly. you should do some research. not to be an asshole, but does your skill level require a really grippy tire up front? id think not due to the question at hand. obviously a 215 will not provide much grip. but there's also a reason that size isnt made in a higher performance tire.
