Wassup, I met a guy online last night that lives fairly close to me and we talked forever about cars. He's got an 89 280SX I think, he said it was the last year they made them. Neway, welllll he was asking me questions but i just didn't know that much about his 280. He wants to build it up but he can't find ne aftermarket for it. I told him to come her and post and im sure the peeps here could help him but i don't know if he is goin to so im posting to maybe help him and just to learn a little more about the 280's. His engine has got like over 200,000 miles on it so definitely needs a rebuild b4 ne major tuning. ####, he didn't even know how much hp the thing had. The bodies in good shape though, and i think it needs some interior work. Just any and all info u guys could give me on the 280 would help. THANKS GUYS.

Er, I don't think that car exists <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> The last 280 was the 280Z, made in the early 80s, replaced by the 300zx which was made in '89. There's a whole #### of a lot of aftermarket stuff for the Z, swaps to V8s, and whatnot.

hmmm, he must be talking about the 180sx. &nbsp; The 280Z ending in the early 80's and was replace in 84 by the Z31, which in turn was replaced in 90 with the Z32.

185 is actually a lot for an L6 of that era (and displacement) with a SOHC only and restrictive emissions equipment on it. &nbsp;A lot of power can be extracted from her today though. &nbsp;Remember look at the BMW I6 engines of that era and you'll see it made a lot of power

you could drop in a &nbsp;built &nbsp;VG30ET, that's the Z31's Turbo engine. I know of a couple in my area that are pushing 500hp.

I wanted a 280Z a lot back when I shopping. &nbsp; But, then I remembered that it would be my daily driver, and it might not be a good idea to rack up 25k/yr on a 30-year old car. &nbsp;Oh well. &nbsp;Maybe someday I'll have an extra car. &nbsp;Someday after finding a decent one is even harder than it already is. &nbsp;Yay, good plan.
