just got Android 1.5 on the G1
just showed up sometime last night. i woke up at about 2am and it said it was ready to update, and i wound up staying up for about a half hour messing with it. the amount of polish they put on the system is amazing. this thing is a beast now.
who else got the update? mine's unlocked and not with t-mobile, btw, so apparently everybody's getting it.

3rd party widgets (finally), smoother interface, animation between screens (this makes a huge difference), everything seems faster, virtual keyboard, revised contacts list, revised gmail, 1st party video recording, MUCH improved still camera, automatic orientation flipping on apps, and more stuff i'm sure i'm forgetting. it's awesome.

yes, i'm on at&t, and the 3g doesn't work because the g1 is only capable of receiving t-mobile 3g frequency. but i'm on wifi most of the time anyway, so i don't really notice. i think if t-mobile gets 3g in my area i'll go ahead and switch over, though.

Sounds pretty cool actually. If i was on t-mobile I would definitely pick one up.
I wonder how long before it becomes a VS thread

it's over-the-air, you'll automatically get it when it rolls out in your region. should be in the next few days.
nah, flash still doesn't work. later this year.

the "g2" is lame as shit, and the g1 redesign is all cosmetic... but there are supposedly 18 android phones coming out by the end of '09, so you might find something you like soon.

Sounds sick, can't wait till mine gets it.
Also can't wait till Tmobile rolls out 3g here, edge is super fail. Busted, have you played the abduction cow game? It's pretty awesome. Can't remember the exact name of it right now, and my phone is down in the car. Gotta bounce cows on platforms and collect powerups and shit... way fun. |

Oh okay, I just assumed the G2 was the improved version of the G1. Hm 18 you say? If this android platform is as good as you all say it is, in may make me reconsider getting that other phone.

oh yeah, moto.... you know, i think back on all the motorola products that have come and gone, and while they all looked good for their time, they all ran like shit, so i hated them. razr, slvr, moto q (had this), so on. but man, moto's design paired with android. there's no way that could suck. you know what carrier is getting it?
