I'm just trying to find out how many of you have had the pleasure of the "rattle". <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
Sorry if this poll was not very clear ... I messed up the second / third choice. But, whatever! Sorry!

I have not, but I removed the upper chain guide anyway to prevent anything worse from happening. you can see the marks from where the timing chain rubs against the chain guide on the chain guide itself.

I've experienced the entire timing chain guide/tensioner problem in my '96 w/ 75000 miles. I had the entire job done--extended warranty covered it, $1900! hehe

I have had the pleasure of having the rattle which in turn wore through my guides which inturn wore a hole in my front engine case which let antifreeze into my block. This situation is not cool. I cleaned it all out fixed the guides and it fired right up. which proves ka24e are a tough engine.
