Knock Sensor KA24DE
For those of you who have replaced the knock sensor off of a KA24DE, what tools did you use to make this job easy? Any tips when going into this job?
I was looking at the knock sensor location (between cylinder 2 and 3) and it looks like it will be a PITA to get it off and on. Any information is appreciated, thanks. |

1/4 ratchet
Extension Swivel socket No EGR No factory PCV tree If you don't have the last two, wrap some paper around the head of the knock sensor bolt so it wedges in the socket nicely. Attempt to snake the harness toward the front of the motor under the runners where it plugs in, then through the center of the intake manifold try to snake the knock sensor/bolt combo into its appropriate location.

It was such a PITA to replace that if I had to do it again, I would just remove the intake manifold for better access. Ended up loosely taping the bolt/sensor to a swivel socket and stabbed it down between 2 & 3. Then used a grabber tool to plug in the harness. Took over an hour, lots of cursing, scratched knuckles due to the floppy swivel juuuuust missing the hole and having to start over.
