Im going to start racing supermoto. There are many places in the bay area that hold competitions/practice days every month. It looks like a really fun time, is realatively inexpensive, and you can drift like crazy.

im gonna go with farzmas answer on this. bikes are rad but two wrecks too many is all it takes for me to stay with four wheels

im about to buy a DRz400SM sometime soon if i dont buy a harley.
not too sure what i wanna do

but yeah, to get the ass end out, all they do is lock up hte rear break
notice its only on turns when they dont put the right foot down.

Yea there is actually events held at altamont, stockton fairgrounds and other bay area places.

The suzuki drz 400 sm is a great choice. Please keep in mind though that if you race one you will be competing against the 426 4 strokes that are purpose built.

I am personally looking at the yamaha wr 250x. It is also fuel injected ftw.

im in japan, they dont race them as prevelant as the US
there are a few places,but not many.

My dad has a drz 400 with a jet kit and yosh exhaust. I bearly ride anymore, but that bike is sooooo slow!

Modern 250 4 strokes are just around as fast as their 450cc cousins.

Luke, If I had $4000 to drop on a used KTM 450 SMR I'd join you in a heartbeat. I'd love to go all out and get a purpose built bike. I know KTM, Husky, that other Italian company make race ready models.

Really though their isn't anything wrong (at all) with a CRF450 or YZ450F. Those will be your most accessible/easy bikes to own.

If you want to be a real badass then get the CR500 (street legal too) supermoto that I posted in the motorcycle thread.

Anyways, good luck with your riding. Don't forget to hit up the twisties and embarrass the streetbike cats.

hmm. I was a dev driver for emmick for the 80cc viper chassis back in the day. I grew up racing sportsman 4 stroke then 80 cc outlaw.

Times have changed my friend. 4 Strokes are the future.

4 strokes in karting are not anywhere near the future yet.

I would kill for a rotary kart motor but they are 6k and no classes to race them in...lame. They make 48hp and are dead frickin reliable and smooth. Less beatin up your chassis and starter/alternator components

My kart is making around 34hp revving to 17.5k. Iam in the not so crazy classes, there are some making 45ish but they stick motors like whoa. My weight with me in the kart only has to be 355. Iam 170 and have to add 15 pounds. bwhaha

I wouldnt want a 2stroke supermotard but I would definitely not get a 250. Atleast in the 400's!

mhm and we changed the port timing on it so the thing is hauling ass. Had a really good rebuild done. To bad Stars of Karting is letting in some badass motors in this coming year which are practically ICA motors...Aie!

Iam getting slayed in karting right now and am working on a plan to get money to compete in the Florida Winter Tour precursor to the Stars of Karting series. Shit is rough......I probably will only finish mid pack at best with how strong the comp is but I want it so bad....we'll see what I can do. Money is a big factor, working on sponsorship proposals
