Don't knock it 'till you try it. I was seriously considering a Saturn Coupe before I bought my '89 240sx, and was considering another Saturn Coupe before I bought my '92 240sx I don't plan on getting a, say it with me now, Saturn Coupe any longer, but it's still a fine car, particularly for the price.

one of my best friends has a saturn coupe, n i didn't notice nething better about it except for the bigger back seat....leg room . i never really thought of it as being fast, but his is an automatic. the saturn is an alright car i guess, but i don't really think of it as a performance car, i would hate to c one of those riced out. my friend has a saturn cuz he's not really into cars n spending $ on it, he just has his daily driven car that's good on gas i guess, n of course, the cd player, that's all he needs. i'm not saying nehting bad towards the saturn, they're nice cars if that's what u want, but i think that the 240's have more to offer than ur average "car."

hey man the disses are all good. I used to think they wre shitty till i was able to start driving it. But the only problem is when racing is spins too much on take off. Any tips on how to reduce that and not lose speed?

if its a manual, u just hafta find the rite rpm that u launch at
like clutch fully, rev to certain rpm, keep it there, dump clutch, and then add more gas slowly
it shold chirp ur tires for a split second, and then grip and start moving, that's the best launch u can get in manual
if automatic.. just use less gas lol, or keep peeling till ur tires are near bald, they get better traction then.. but u'll be one with the center divider on the highways when it rains heh

My beater car is a '94 saturn sc1, I bought it to drive for work so I dont have to put all the miles on my 240.
It is noisy, rattles alot, is made out of plastic and generates a whole lot of wind noise inside the car, and it isnt weather stripping problem, its just the way the car was built. Its PURPLE, with tan and black interior, I hope the GM emplyee who thought that those three colors went together was subsequently executed by top executives but......
I also hope the GM employee who thought putting two cup holders in the back seat, and NONE up front quickly joined him on the firing line.
The engine screams at 85 and Im scared to push it past that, the odometer broke at 85k (little gears gonna cost me $200 to fix if I ever decide too) The sunroof stopped working before I ever bought the car, motor is burned out or something and the repair will prolly cost more than the car is worth. To top it off the sunroof LEAKS, so I get wet every time it rains and the interior smells funny because of the moisture.
Despite ALL of this, I dont despise driving it, it is actually pretty peppy, tho everytime I beat on it I feel like it might explode.

All I can say is, that on Friday night when I get home from work, and pull my 240 out of the garage for my first drive of the weekend, it feels GOOOoood!

This reminds me of the time I raced my friends grandmothers saturn. My car was a 85' 300zx which was 2 weeks away from going to the tranny shop for the tranny to get rebuilt. Anyway after easily beating him one time. I tell my friend in the passenger seat that I'll give him a head start, so the light changes and he goe's i slowely count to 3 then go to tie him by the time we hit the other light (all this with a badly clunking auto tranny, and my friend in the car) But of course we get to our destination and all I hear from my saturn driving friend is how he schooled my car, even with me and my passenger telling him the story. To this day he still thinks that the Saturn could take my old car (he knows it gets under my skin). Anyway if you want performance parts for a Saturn go buy a magazine called grass roots motorsports, I remember alot of adds for companies that sell parts for saturns in that mag.

my mom drives a 2000 mazda 626 v6 and that has some crazy toqure that car flys i beaten a celica turbo about the 1992 i kick the shit out of a lot of cars
i would bet that it will do a good 14.8 in the 1/4 if the thinkg hooks up at the line the frount end likes to bounce hop and skip when the tiers spin but all in all its fast handeling fair not as tight as the 240 at all

Nismo, I didnt say that Saturns were bad mechanically, the car has far passed 100k on it and is still in pretty sound condition. I drive it 250+ miles a day and it has yet to leave me stranded.
But as far as interior, comfort, noise insulation etc etc, they dont really stand up to alot of other makes. It is a cheaply built car.... but it is also an A to B car.... itll get you there, thats why I bought one so I dont get stranded 100 miles from home, thats one #### of an expensive tow.

My morning commute is two minutes long - three if I hit the light. Hehe, I moved here so I could walk to work during license suspensions and snow storms. Just a bad idea to be behind the wheel of a 240 under either of those conditions. =)
