cheap old cars (70's and such)
i'm looking for a daily driver to replace my Acura. it's a comfortable car. VERY comfortable. but it also blends in too easily. cops don't follow me around hoping for moving violations. people don't pay any attention to it. sometimes i can't find it in the parking lot. everything works all the time, there's no question that it'll start up on the first crank.
i want an old box of shit to drive around in. preferably two door, preferably with a "smaller" v8.. 302, 318, and so on. something an old lady would have cruised around in through the 80's and 90's, and then died. and i want it cheap. i don't want to pay the "classic car" markup. i want a Dodge Dart, a Plymouth Valiant, maybe a Nova. what other models should i be looking for? i want a car that will sell for $3k or less in mechanically sound conditon, with the standard "there's only rust starting in the quarter panels the rest is clean i swear" rust, that i can bondo up and respray satin black and be captain badass in. check out this Dart. shiiiiiit. i'd register and daily my Galaxie 500, but it's longer than my dad's f body and the 390 gets about 12 mpg pulling its fat 4500 pound ass around.

yeah, a first gen mustang coupe would be pretty cheap. and everybody would think i was uncle jesse or some shit.
edit: i think a Falcon would have too much "classic lol" markup, since they're all early 60's and whatnot.

70's dart, satin black with the stripe around the trunk, 318, horse blankets over the seats, black steelies, cherry bomb glasspacks, those hood pins with the metal rope so you don't lose the pins.. oh yeah, that'd be badass.

Welcome to the darkside.
1972 Buick Skylark. Do it up in a flat black + gloss black version of the GSX paint job, that would be sweet. 1973-75 Plymouth Duster or Dodge Dart Sport 73-74 Charger, but good luck finding one. There was one for sale this weekend for $2k. I'd suggest a 73 Satellite like the one I just got, but finding one for that cheap in that good of shape was a total fluke. Right now is a buyers market for these cars, so you should be able to get something a lot better for the same price than what you could last year. |

There's a '72 Dodge Monaco that's been sitting at my grandpas house for at least 15 years, I've always thought about fixing it and driving it around.
Its just a big boat of a car but I love those headlights.

67-69 camaro
65 mustang gt fastback *sorry i only love the fastbacks* or 67 and do a shelby replica *sory there is a girl in teh pic , quick google search* 70-72 datsun 240z early 70s porsche 911 start out with a cheap crappy one that runs and work your way up, that car has soo much potential, basically that chassis was used for 3 decades of 911/racing.. porsche 914 would be fun too.. mid engine, lightweight and cheap. Ive seen a few turbo vw powered 914s on craiglist, seemd pretty interesting. or build a 916 replica *the 6 cylinder version of the 914, with wider fenders etc* I know its not pretty and underrated, but id still appreciate it.

hmm turbo mag did a dsm motor? i know back in the late 90s they featured a v8 swap *i was in jr high and a friend ahd that issue lol*.
I want to put a rotary into a 911 = instant 930/911 turbo killer that cost $tons cheaper starting with a early 70s chassis.

what the fuck
attention guys posting fiats and celicas NO THIS IS NOT THAT THREAD also, note "cheap" in the title. first gen camaro != cheap Quote:
but definitely not in the category of "cheap old cars". even if i found one for nothing, the gas would put me in the poor house. also i'd probably back into my house trying to turn it around in the driveway. i love how the corners are all bumper, like the designers new they were making a car that was too goddamn big.

the sixes and smaller v8's in the smaller cars (read: dart, 'stang) really aren't that bad on gas. it's the 390's, the 440's, the 18 foot long boats that get the shitty mileage... i guess if i had a long commute my idea of "bad on gas" would be different, though. but my daily commute is like ten minutes, so...

Well I would drive a hummer if that's all I had to worry about.
But my commute is about 45 mins (at higher than posted speeds). So yeah. haha. Not saying that I wouldn't. I mean my benz gets like 10mpg or something shitty like that. Just have to be in the mood for it I guess.
