craziee man, you like the car but not the motor, curious why u got the car in the first place.. but i wont nitpick. really original swap. not my bag of tea but props for doing something out of the norm of purist.
im curious if that 4 inches of moving the rack forward might affect the toe at full lock? what mods have you done to the suspension?

right now the suspension is stock, and yes it did have an affect of the toe at lock. we havent got in on the alignment rack yet to see how bad it is with all the parts in the car yet. I am going to be doing some upgrading and modifying of the whole suspension. with the front of the car now lighter than it was it sits almost an 1" and 1/2 higher than stock,so adjustible spings and struts are a must. luckily there is a tone of susp. parts out there for this car. im close to done with my custom sway bar that im making and i have to order some endlinks that are adjustable. right now the goal is to get it to run, drive later. and yes i love the car but not the rotary that came in it. I have driven a good few fd's that were all fast as hell and 2 of them were autocrossers that handled beyond beleif, but rotarys are awsome for racing but for a daily driver they suck. horrid mpg (16 hwy) not very reliable, and frequint problems with all the cars that mazda did not want to cover under the waranty. when mine popped they wanted almost 7k to replace just the core and have me replace all kinds of very expensive parts that i had already replaced. so instead of throwing my money away at mazda on somthing that was going to break again i took the road less traveled and came up with this for somthing fun to drive and easy to work on.

Anyways, interesting swap you got there. You just hate all rotary engines or just the rx8 engine? My rx7 friends all seem to like the 13b series engine except for gas efficiency aspect of it.

Not answer a question intended for the OP but, the Renesis motor for the RX-8 was meant to be fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, and those are two things most rotary engines aren't

Definitely giving you props for this...
I love the RX8 chassis - has got some new styling without being boisterous to no extent... Add some SR power to it and you should be able to crank some reliable 300-400whp out of the thing without affecting the weight distribution much. Plus more torque too which is always a plus... |

Wow, it's like how Mazda would have done it (other than screwing the steering geometry), except with the nice turbo 4 cylinder they don't have.
It's not like Mazda has a cool DI 2.3L turbo motor. And it's not like they put it in all their FWD cars and SUVs, but left the "sports car" with 2 limp spinning triangles. Nope, Mazda would never have done that. |

I want to make this totally clear. I am far from rich. I have done 95% of the work myself and have bEen having to save a lot of money to make this happen. I work in a bodyshop for caddilac and work on flat rate. I wish I was rich lol....and fro said it perfectly about what mazda tried to do with the stock engine.

Hell of a job you've got going there, good luck with it all. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see the outcome, but it looks like you have it well in hand.

nope, I didn't see that. I just looked at the pretty pictures and skimmed the info since blocks of text like that are a bit harsh on my eyes. after that I posted.

so i just got a really good deal on a top mount manifold and a tial waste gate. the mani. has a t3 flange on it and im thinking about either bolting on a straight t3 externaly gated or a t3 t4 . im going to be using this manifold for sure because it will make my downpipe routing much more clean and efficent. any suggestions on a setup and places to buy good oil lines.
