You can unbolt the axle @ the diff and slide the axle out of the bearing w/o removing any of the arms from the knuckle and then remove the hub. Made it very easy to get those 4 bolts on the back side of the knuckle.

I'm about to dive into this project tomorrow on my s13, the rears i have no concerns about but the fronts i believe are off of an S14 that my buddy had in Japan, it has R32 brakes according to him, they look like z32 brakes to me.. My question is will my stock brake lines work with those calipers and will my brake maSter be alright or do i need a different master? And i read on the second page that if they are off of an s14 you need the lower control arms to?? What's the difference in hubs??

Just read this " s14 5 lug hubs bolt in after u change the ball joint in the s13 lower control arm after that the s14 hub needs to b pressed into ur s13 knuckle easy peasy lemon squeezy" is this true?? And if i have the s14 knuckle could i just do the ball joint on the LCA and everything else should bolt up?

Yes.. very good you searched.. for the 14 knuckle on a 13 arm you need a 14 ball joint in that LCA.. as for your brake master you will need to change it cuz it will become very spongy and kinda scary to drive, because it has to push 8 pistons instead of 2 in the front.. .. they sell conversion brake lines at almost every 240 performance store cuz the stocks are different than the R32/z32 style ,, just google it

^ what? an s13 with stock s13 knuckles, stock s13 calipers, and stock 5-lug s14 rotors will fit perfectly. you don't need to get s14 calipers. hell, as far as i know they're virtually identical anyways. i should know because i did it and they worked fine, haha

^ wtf? no no no no.
if you are using an s14 brake rotor on your s13, your s13 caliper will work fine. if you are using a z32 rotor, you need to also get the correct z32 caliper. s13/s14 calipers will definitely not work with z32 rotors.

nice write up.. i did this on my s13 on sat. like 240silviax said- if you have an s13 its better to just remove the axels and undo the bolts for the rear hub.. front hub is just slide on.. if you have a hard time removing the rear hub once you have the bolts out just use a hamer and tap/bang it from the sides and you will see it start to slide out..
and i used s14 rotors also... |

Removing the axle for the rears is a big waste of time, don't listen to them LOL. I used to think that until my friend showed me otherwise.
There are recessed areas in the axle so that you have room to loosen the bolts for the hub. Just turn your wheel/axle until the axle is in the correct location, remove bolt 4x, and remove the hub. Every time I've had to remove rear hubs they're real bitches from all the rust. I found that if you PARTIALLY thread the bolts into the back of the hub, then hammer them (on all corners,) the hub will start sliding out. Also beating the hell out of the face of the hub works as well. |

Some replacement axles dont have those axles recessed areas like mine ,, and using wd40 makes it alot easier to remove the hub so that you dont have to beat it and just tap it out so that way you wont damage the hub or bearing if you wanted to sell it or re use it if needed to

Plus it makes it easier to get to those bolts and getting a torque wrench in there + my axles were already detached because I was rebuilding my diff at that time

I just recently picked up a set of SE hubs and rotors. I've been told my stock front calipers on my '95 wont work with the new rotors but the rear will.. is this true? do i need to go with a Q45 or Z32 setup? or stock se calipers?

I am up front. When I bought the fronts they were going through a revision for the rear and I couldn't get the rears too. Ending up getting shameful ebay hubs.
The drop engineering hubs are surprisingly good quality for what they cost. Packaging was very good, hubs / bearings have held up great. I'm impressed. If my ebay hubs take a dump I'll be picking up the DE hubs for the rear. |
