As much as I understand how people get upset when things like this happen wish their condelences and such but I think more people should be angry. The passengers may not have been behind the wheel but they are very much responsible (Not wearing a seatbelt, allowing somebody to drive like that with them IN THE CAR). I mean look some jackass killed three people, one of which was a mere child (16 is very much a child IMO), sure we all make mistakes, most of us will never make a mistake of this magnitude. I think thats the biggest reason people don't learn, we act sorry for the individual. Sure they have to live with the guilt but sometimes that really doesn't do it justice. Just as Hypertek said over time it stops being an effective deterant and people resort do their old ways.

Just trying to say there is a difference between racing and speeding on public roads. We've all gotten a speeding ticket I'm sure. Also, this is the reason why they say "buckle up for safety".... I've never understood why some people don't take the 2 seconds to put on a seat belt.. |

Maybe they were egging him on, at least one of them? Girls especially seem to tend to do that, at least to me, although I never give in. I am pretty sure any non-retarded person would slow down if all the passengers were pleading him/her to do so. Then again most intelligent would not speed, whether to show off or even if being persuaded to do so.

Yes this is realty smacking us in the face, but people that make such poor decisions and the ones that go along with it have to understand that their is consequences for driving that fast and THINGS do happen. But the statement "take it to the track" never really gets practiced and then you get this. RIP, condolences to the family of the departed

This is what I think of these types of situation: There are several factors to consider here. I've been into cars for a long time, starting with Hondas, when street racing was booming, especially freeway runs. I used to have passengers with me all the time, mainly members of my car club. This was the unspoken rule, that everyone knew: If you got into my car, you know that I may race, and or drive recklessly. If you don't want to be involved, don't jump in. It was the same for everyone else in my club. There have been times, when someone new (mainly girls), would ride with me. I would always ask them, if they felt comfortable with me speeding, and if they weren't well, then I wouldn't. Street racing, and touge driving will never end. I don't understand why people keep saying, "When will people learn?" It's not that people aren't learning, it's because they are choosing to do what they want to do, knowing the consequences. A lot of people know someone that has died or been hurt from some type of illegal racing activity. Does that stop them from continuing to do it? I'm not saying it's right, but illegal racing, drifting, and mountain driving, are a huge part of what makes up the car scene. It is something that will never go away, as long as their are tuner cars being built. It all comes down to this: Do what you want, just remember, that YOU will resposible for your actions. One last note: If you are in a situation, where you don't feel safe, SPEAK UP!!! If you just sit there, and don't say anything, how is the driver to know, that you are afraid? It's your life, and you have a right to protect it. If you don't say anything, you are being part of the problem. RIP to the families of these victims.

RIP to those who died, it's a tragedy.
Sadly, people won't learn. Half the people who posted here criticizing the driver is going to be doing something stupid on the streets within the next few weeks. It's what happens while you're young. You just have to hope that you make it through until you wise up. I really hope the driver becomes an advocate and mentors kids about the dangers of street racing in some sort of capacity because it could happen to anyone. And when I say street racing, I mean anything from drag racing on the street to exhibition of speed.

I do. Youre a douche- thats what theyre talking about. Have some respect. The fact that the accident happened 6 months ago is irrelevant. You felt the need to come in and bash someone for bumping the thread- this is not the place for noobie training.

No point in digging up the bones. Just let it be.
Sucks lives were lost but there is no point in reviving such a sad story.
