S13 Cam Gear Bolt on S14 Cams
Hi,
hopefully I can get a solid answer from you guys... I'm having that notorious VTC sound when you rev between 1000-2000rpm; and when I unplug the VTC solenoid the rattle goes away. Anyways, I know that fixing this solution is by replacing the VTC Sprocket which costs around $600 and I rather not go that route, but instead maybe installing adjustable cam gears. Please see my setup as listed below: S14 Kouki Black Top SR20DET GT28RS HKS Step 2 Cams 256in/264ex HKS Step 2 Valve Springs Peak Performance Retainers Apex'i Metal Headgasket 1.1mm Now my question is can I install a S13 Cam bolt sprocket on my current S14 HKS cams which were designed for NVCS (with VTC) and/or should I install adjustable cam gears which allows me to retard or advance the timing? I've been getting mixed reviews from people some say you have use the S13 intake cams and some say you can just bolt on the S13 Bolt Sprocket with the S14 Cams. hopefully you guys can give me a straight answer, thanks. Steve. |
