Power Antenna > Non-Power 3" Stubby Antenna
Power Antenna > Non-Power 3" Stubby Antenna
So how would I do it? Could I just go to pick and pull and find a non-power antenna and put it in the back? I dis-assembled the power antenna....anddddd I mostly learned how to take it out. But I need something to attach the 3" antenna to. Any suggestions? |

Alright so here's the lowdown:
I have (1) Stock Motorized Power Antenna that is stuck in either the Up or Down postiition (usually down, I'm sure you can figure out why) The resulting position gives me poor radio recipetion and and an unyielding disastrous obnoxious unrelenting grinding when turning the stereo on or off. So I purchased said 3" Carbon Fiber Wrap Radio Antenna. I was able to remove the existing antenna from turning it counter-clockwise with needle nose pliers (be careful, or suffer the consequences of your spazzicity). After I did that the following plan was proposed. Arrive at Pick-an-Pull, enter Search-And-Destroy Mode, and find a non-power antenna; I believe any will do. After I have purchase said antenna device; I return home and reluctantly manage to install the device and attach the new 3" Stubby Antenna. In possible future retrospec I believe this to be a formidable plan and will update this thread in the resulting.... results. If anyone agrees that I should go this route, or if anyone wants to shout random obscenities at my proposterous plan; now is the time to do so. But seriously, Someone has to have done this before; I can't be the only one. |

That's all I did as well. Any of those stubby antennas and any of the oens who have hooked up that silly powered wire all seem to not work well regardless (in fact I had a draw through that powered wire). Endedup getting a headunit with a USB port and calling it a day. 8 gig sticks are the cost of potato chips these days, and I'll never go bored with a bunch of stuff on there. Radio sucks anyway these days, so I didn't consider it a loss.

Or to simplify this for 90% of you.... '89 Coupes and Hatches come factory with a fixed antenna. And nissan still stocks the base. Check out WestCovina's NismoShop and go under OEM Parts, Keyword Antenna. First one at the top. $52.23

Here is how you do it:
Buy this- Car antenna base for Volkswagen Passat Golf Jetta Polo | eBay and find yourself a male motorola antenna connector and splice it onto that vw base mount or find the right adapter plug depending on what connector you have now. Then screw in your stubby antenna and your radio should work fine. Mine looks like this:

Theres a hole already in the body so you just place the antenna mount above the hole and it comes with a large nut you just screw it from inside the body.
