Anyone still have A/C with their KA-T setup?
So I've been out of the s-chassis scene for a long time but I recently picked up a nice s14. The parts availability is absolutely amazing nowadays.
Anyways on to the topic. I haven't been able to find much information on Ka-t setups still running A/C. It seems as if the low pressure line running along the firewall will make downpipe fitment quite difficult. Anyone's thoughts or personal setup photos and specs would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks amigos. |

It depends on your manifold / DP. If you have clearance heatwrap your line and you're done. Otherwise you either have to modify the exhaust or get a custom line made.

I just simply service my A/C system just using the high pressure side. As long as you have a good working system you can have your a/c recharged just using the high side.

Literally bends right out of the way.
I've had AC in every variation of my set up.

I dream of having AC in my coupe. I have to have a custom line made, reroute because of my down pipe.

I don't think I've ever owned a manifold that I couldn't use my AC with, although I've only ever used top mount manifolds.
I'm running a CX racing manifold and down pipe right now and it all fits just fine

I have a hybrid SR manifold with KA flange from Mazworx on a t28 set up with sidemount piping and my AC blows COLD.

Okay, let me clear this statement up. Charging the the A/C system from the high side can only be safely done with an actual machine. You CAN NOT charge the system with out the A/C machine which will recover properly, pull vacuum and Charge the exact amount with out the A/C running. This is the only way this method can be done.
So take it to a professional. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS YOURSELF IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN A/C MACHINE AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT. I have been doing this since 2003. Never had a problem.

This can only be done professionally. Sorry. I should state this. I have a repair shop so I use my A/C machine to pull vacuum and then recharge my A/C system. The vacuum pulls the refrigerant into the system. You CAN NOT recharge your A/C without a professional A/C machine through the high side port.
