s14 Slow Crank s14 sr20det

Hello everyone.

Well real quick. Ive just wired up my S14 SR20det into my s14. I went ahead and used my stock sr20det wiring for the entire car. I brought all the harnesses from my RHD s14 in japan and put it into my s14 here. Well like i said, everything is wired up. here is where im at now with the engine.

-Engine cranks, but it is a very slow, power draining crank. sounds like all my power from the battery is getting sucked out or something. not sure what the problem may be. i was thinking maybe my grounding my need to be adjusted or something. any help is much appreciated.

here is a video of what it sounds like.

YouTube - Slow sr20det crank

thanks again.

check your grounds. sounds like the starter could be going bad too. if you could id take it to autozone/advance/napa or wherever to have it checked. I have a place that here rebuilds starters for around $50

How long have you had the battery ? It seems like it's not getting enough power .. can't even identify if its the starter because it seems like its not even being given the chance to try and turn the car over ... your dash lights die out when it tries .. so i would say battery, or wiring (grounds) ..

Check your grounds and if you think your frying something check your pinout as well. The only thing I can tell you now is to perform checks and report back, there's just too many things to guess right now lol.

you can plug your ignitor chip into someone else's car to see if it starts... if it doesnt, then yours is probably bad... but dont plug someone else's known good one into yours just in case your electrical system is the issue .. i dont think any real harm can be done, but just playing it safe so you dont end up pissing off one of your friends/acquaintances when you for some reason fry theirs in the process of checking

You didn't bring any spare igniters back with you?...dumby...do you have a multimeter? You can check for continuity across the igniter. You should be able to figure out how to do that...telephone boy! lol

ya i know how to, but i dont have one, i guess my cheap ass wil have to buy one!! or barrow one... muhahahaha. for some reason tho i have 3 sets of coil packs... have tried with 2 sets, so i dont think 8 coil pakcs r all dead, so im pretty sure its narrowed down to igniter OR wiring..il keep ya posted!
