Exclamation Help! Window wont go up and its raining!

My driver side window wont go up and its been raining all this week. The window NEVER went down before, but while I was at the shop today, my mechanic got in the car and clicked the button and it went down. I dont know how, but it did. I ran up to him and told him it never rolled down before (as he was rolling it back up). He stopped rolling it up to listen to what I was saying and thats when it stopped working. Now its like 25% up.

When I hit the button I hear a click. Its a single click. Everytime I press the button it clicks. Is there anway I can somehow get this to work. I'm thinking its a faulty contact somewhere, I don't have a diagram though to figure it out.

This really sucks because I have no money at all, not even to go to the junkyard and buy a new motor if I have too. Hopefully I can get this solved soon, its not raining now but I'm pretty sure it will tonight or tommorow. Any help appreciated.

[edit: meant to say driver side, sorry for the confusion]

same thing happened to my windows on my s14. but yea its definitely the power window relay..well you could try unhooking it and then hooking it back up again and see if it works because it worked for me but not for long so then i just went and got one at the junk yard... but the junk yard is the best place for you to go to man because buying one from the dealership would cost you an even greatest price so just go to the junkyard and grab one from any old school nissan like a sentra.. mine was from a sentra and it works and is the exact same thing

take off the door panel i think the driver side, and theres the power relay, mine ahd a short and i just droped a dot of sauder and it fixed. or get a replacement from car-parts.com or ajunk yard.. thats what it mostlikely is.

you'll know its that if u hear a clicking noise or buzzing noise when u try to roll the window up.

Wrong. The power window amp only drives the driver side window, the amp for the passenger side is built in to the master switch.

And what in hell is sauder?

Great! I get out there and it started to rain a hurricane! Fawk! WTF is up with that! Did some hack job there by wrappping an umbrella around the door and attaching it to the sunvisor. Should hold good for tonight 'till I can mess with it in the morning....grrrr....

Pull the door panel off and manually raise the window. Then ziptie the gears of the motors in this 'up' position.

I rocked it for a good 6 months.

Something like that happened to me twice, both times it was the cable that actuates the accembly frayed and jammed everything up. If that's the case then you'll have a hard time getting the windows up. You can get it from the junkyard for like $40

if it's clicking you are gonna need a new window regulator...... if I remember right, the part costs about $90 new at the dealer. I might be able to hook you up as i work at a nissan dealer.

Well, still haven't gotten it to work. The controls have a wire that goes to a little rectangular box. I believe this is the amp, I tried 2 of them that I got from the junkyard but no luck. I thought it was that because the clicking sound was coming from that.

From that amp I THINK it goes to the window motor right? So I guess my motor is messed up or not getting signal or something. If it is damaged I'm going to see if cleaning and lubricating the motor might help. They wanted 75 bux for the motor at the junkyard, thats kinda steep.

If I can't get the motor to work I'm going to put it up manually. Anyone know how to do this?

No, you didn't read my post at all.

The window amplifier (white box in the door) drives the DRIVER SIDE power window. NOT the passenger side. You can try every amp in the world, it won't fix the problem you're having.

The PASSENGER side is driven by the main switch (the one in the driver's door), the switch itself may be bad but verify you have a signal at the motor first. From what you're saying it sounds more like the regulator cable has frayed and has binded the motor up. Unbolt the regulator and inspect it, then take the motor off and run it freely, if it works then replace the regulator, if it doesn't then replace the motor.

Talking driver side window regulator problem

It seems like many nissan cars have the same problem as I have the same problem. So I disassembled the door panel and remove window, regulator, and motor(with gearbox). I even opened the gearbox attached to the motor.
It was the gearbox making the problem. I don't know other cars window motor design but the one in my 92 240sx is poor design. It is kinda weak structure.
this is the disassembled motor gearbox

And I fixed it by drilling the parts and put a nail into it.

It worked perfect for several times and then stoppe working. I guess the nail just ripped off the rubber part in the middle. I decided to stop since the sun was going down. I'll work on it again sometime very soon and update it here. My plan is to drill a hole thru the metal parts and bolt it on. I'll see it will work or not.

Any comments will be welcomed..

1995 240sx window won't go up or down

Hey guys, this is my 1st post, and I have the same issue and I replaced the window amp today, but no luck. (new part from nissan) It makes the same clicking sound my old one makes when you push down or pull up on the window button. This issue is on the drivers side window. Help!

correct. this is the power window amp, and it is 99% of the time, what is faulty. vatche usually has some for sale. send him your old broken one and he'll probably give you a hookup. its just a bad connection that can usually be repaired pretty easily.

If your passenger side window is not working it has nothing to do with the amp like metioned earlier in this old thread. You most likely have a bad pass. window motor, not what you have pictured at all. ALso s13 are different then s14s

alright so i went to a pull-a-part yesterday and got a new passenger window motor and rails. i plugged it into the passenger side and still nothing. im convinced its the amplifier (located in the drivers side door)

after searching around online, is $120 a reasonable price for such a small piece. i wasnt able to find one at the junk yard.

lol 120 maybe from the dealer. but you should be able to find one on here for around $25. there are also some guys on here that fix them and will hook you up with a good deal if you send them your broken one. someone in this thread mentioned vatche. i believe he does this. just look around the marketplace, you should be able to find one for a decent price
