speed sensor code

hey guys........................

I have a DATSUN 510 with a 1993 ka24de engine in it. I checked the codes on the ECU today and it blinked a 14 which is the speed sensor code, which i do not have hooked up due to the fact i dont know how to hook it up without that part of the harness, my question is , Is it possible to hook the speed sensor up to the ECU? on the FSM it shows the 2 wires run through the SMJ? then only to the instrument panel ! does the smj split those wires off to the ecu or what? im confused ! if it is possible to hook up the speed sensor straight to the ECU what color wires do I attach them to?

any help is greatly appreciated THANKS

Red and red/yellow from VSS goes to the cluster, from there a yellow/green goes to the ECU.

Yellow/green is output from the cluster.

Hey, i'm in the same situation but with a 98 Sr20 in my 71 240Z. I have the Defi Heads up display speedo. I have the listening signal wire from the Defi heads up spliced into the yellow/Green Pin 32. But now i have no clue what I need to do with the 2 wires coming from the sensor. Please dont tell me to run them into my the gauge cluster becuase this is a 240Z with all Defi Gauges.

What we are asking is, Is there a way to wire up this VSS without the stock gauge cluster? And if so..How? Thanks.
