Welded diff issue. Did this shop mess up ?!?! Videos and pics included ! Please help
Whats good every1.
I just had a local shop weld my diff. I also just installed a 4.3 pinion and gear from an r32. The problem is that I can't install the axle splines. I look down the spline well and I see weld that I am m guessing shouldn't be there? Seems like its causing the issue. Is this the case. Did the welder fuck up or am I fucking something up here? VIDEOS AND PICTURES BELOW ! The FIRST 4 Pictures show what I would assume are some pretty through welds. However the last 4 pictures show where I think the problem lies. Let me know what you guys think, preferably from those individuals who have installed and/or properly welded diffs in the past. The shop messed up. The axle shafts go to about 1mm away from where that shaft with the gears is. It looks like they welded the plate to far in. I've never used those plates I just connect the gears.
Edit, cant get pics to load but look at how close the axle shafts are to the shaft with the gears is. http://www.240-sx.com/welding-your-differential/ |

The shop is fixing their mistake, no questions asked.
LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ALL THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO HAVE THEIR DIFFS WELDED! -MAKE SURE, if you use metal plates, THEY DON'T SIT TOO DEEP. -MAKE SURE, NO WELD SEEPS PAST THE PLATES OR GEARS INTO THE CENTER OF THE DIFF. That's all, have fun sliding ! |
