The bonnet was a pain in the ass to line up this time because the hinges had been removed from the body for painting and they bolt on under the front guards. So every time they're adjusted the guards have to be almost taken right off so it took us afew hours of swearing at one another to get it all lined up. Worked out well in the end though.
Guards back on too. When the guards were not back on properly so we could play with gaps. Finalising the wiring for the wideband O2 sensor. First draft of the template for the air ducting which will be essential to cooling because the mouth of the bar is much lower than the overall cooling intake areas. End plan to make it one of one single alloy sheet and bend it all up to suit. It will be independently fixed to the car and just sit over the outside mouth of the front bar. More soon! |

We then got the three piece shape pretty close we traced it onto this thinner easy to work with cardboard and then trimmed it up more closely.
Once we were happy with the fitment we traced this onto the alloy sheet and cut it out with the air hacksaw. After a quick session on the bender it came out like this. Fits quiet nicely and should work well. The top area will be sealed off with foam from the bonnet to the radiator support. Need to visit clarke rubber and pickup some strips for the back edges so they cant rub through the paint and the seal is nice and tight. Fitted up the new front swaybar links they're a nice fit. Also ordered some swaybar locking kits for the front and rear bars so they cant "float" in the D bushes with the new links. More soon! |

Quick update of the last few days before I catch some much needed sleep!
James performing last minute "Machining" of the dash cluster surround. Came out suprisingly well we can get another one pretty easily later if need be though! New whiteline bits should stop the bars floating around with the new links. Oil cooler mounted thanks to Dennis from Grimm. Came out really well we were more than happy with his work. Assembling the new SPL arms into roughly the right lengths. Mike and Chris testing the new radio gear. Last year we had issues with James not being able to hear us over the exhaust this year we have some noise cancelling ear buds to help avoid this issue. Helmet wired up. Wiring was taking shape. |

If those ear buds dont work out, I have 2 sets of Nacre Quiet Pro, cancels out excessive loud noises, amplifies softer noises, like voices. I wish I would have seen more cars when I was in Sydney, but any of my buddies wanted to do was sleep and go to King's Cross at night. Anyways, the updates are great. Looking forward to seeind it completed.

Air ducting being mounted up.
Arms installed. First mostly healthy meal eaten the whole time working on James car :P Strafes for the rear diffuser. Brackets made up to mount the external canisters. Came out very neatly! =) Splitter well used you can see how well the rub plates on the bottom worked. All ground down by the road to within an inch of their life :P We've had issues with getting the clutch pickup level right the gearbox has been in and out of the car a total of 5 times to get this correct sorted now though. Pivot ball spaced out slightly. More soon! |

so to install P12 rocker cover on P11 head, you just need to change spark plugs gasket to S15 one? and what about coils? will Denso ones will fit, which Mazworx recommends ? Tell me please what size of your HT Throttle and did you weld HT flange on manifold, or Q45 flange can work with HT tb's ? P.S. Nice car! I have quite same setup |

Its the 77mm one we used and got hypertune to weld their flange on to suit. We used S15 coilpacks as they mount straight into the P12 cover we didn't use the denso ones that came with the kit. Yeh just swap the P11 ones out for the S15 rubbers from nissan they just seal on the outside of the platform on the head. Hope that helps, nice engine bay man some hours gone into that! =) What turbo are you running and got any dyno charts?? |

We had some last minute issues and were unable to make the event this year. This is the dyno chart which is still not finished being tuned yet on E85. We're really happy with the curve and James cant wait to test pilot it shortly.
Now we can sort all these tiny issues out without any time pressure and hopefully get out to another event soon. =) |

Its on a chassis dyno not a hub one so these figures are meaningless. Would be interesting to find out though.

Had an awesome weekend I cant believe how far ahead this nemo thing is. Suttons just got edged off the podium in open class which was a bit disappointing same with scorch in the last session. I could openly see the scorch teams disappointment when suzuki was unable to match Earl Bambers time while we watched the timing screen in their garage. So close!
Pic thanks to Evan Sheppard more to come soon. |

Some shots of the car on the bilstein stand. Kinda painful to look at these cause we should have been on the track. But you can only put in so much effort, next year we hope to be back with some serious testing done and alot of seat time for James.

At least it drove at the event. Looks like James is wearing some sort of french artists hat in this pic lol. =)
Thought some of you guys might find this interesting. Here is James graph (the black dots) overlayed on the graph of a 2.8L RB26 with -5's on e85. |

A picture of the console back together (almost) with all the wiring wrapped up. Still need to rewire afew small things though.
Picture of the Racetech dash installed. Still having some issues getting the dash to talk to the ECU over CAN Bus. Anyone have any experience setting this up, or know someone who has?? Some more pics soon hopefully James is able to take it back and get the tune finished up and the dash all setup and working properly. Cant wait to feel what its like on the road. =) |

Been a while since last update. Everyone was so tired after the lead up to WTAC things slowed down for a little while. The last few weeks have been a bit more focused again. James put a list together of everything that needed to be done to have it back on the road. The list was surprisingly long even though the car was so close to making the event.
This included: -Fix clutch - picking up too low -Fix dash as fuel level, speedo and tacho all not working and not finished being wired up -Fit windscreen wipers and wire up -Fit E85 sensor for flex fuel setup -Fix power steering - freshly built pump decided to pack it up on the drive home from WTAC. -Fit heater box and retrofit wiring so it all works like stock (excluding aircon) -Better secure wiring -Swaybar hitting sump -Replace dodgy v-band clamps (got hot and started to fall apart) -Electric windows wired up -Hazard lights and cigarette lighter (For performance box as a back up) -Change clutch master cylinder and slave So while none of them are very exciting its quite a bit of work. First step was to finish off the wiring. The car went to the Suttons where Andrew helped massivly by sorting almost all of it out. (since the rest of us are useless at it :P ) Since they have a hoist we decided to swap in the new clutch at the same time. We had a couple of issues, firstly the pick up point was changing and secondly it was pretty loud. Hard to explain didn't really sound like the clutch but it made the car feel pretty rough for just cruising round though on the street. We made the tough call that despite the big weight penalty we'd take the tilton clutch out and put in a Nismo twin super copper mix. This added nearly 10kg to the car which is pretty stupid but for the street we decided it had to be done. The tilton clutch was actually very easy to drive but it just doesn't dampen the engine noise making the car feel too much like a race car for street use. Because it was so light the engine felt awesome and revvy though so we hope we don't regret it. Next issue was the sway bar which would have been a huge problem if the car had hit the track at WTAC. Basically when the car was on the hoist there was quite a bit of room between the sump and the swaybar but with the car on the ground there actually was very little room. The small amount of driving it had, had marked the sump from the swaybar touching it so we reckon on the track it would have done possibly cracked/pryed the sump which could have cost us the motor. So next step was to work out why it was touching and what we could do to fix it. James Had a chat to The (R4Race) and his had ample room. So we had a look at the new whiteline swaybar and they had 9mm more room. See below... Yellow is the one of the SXD180, middle is the new whiteline s15 bar and the top one is the one we had also 27mm Whiteline(maybe 6 years old). Pretty weird to change this angle but the new one looks like it will do the trick. Power steering is in progress the whole system has been out and apart. Hoping to have everything shorted so we can head out to the SAU nationals for some fun! =) More soon! |
