I'm glad u don't have a penis Irena hehe =)

Yeah... dealing with Chicago cops is a total joke, I have a hard time taking those guys seriously... I don't even bother obeying the law around them, they never do much anyway hehe. .

Yeah my aunt and uncle live downtown and someone actually stole their car, and they got no help from the police. Lucily whoever stole it decided to just ditch it somewhere. The Chicago cops don't want to be bothered with writing tickets, because it takes time away from their more important duties like harassing people and staking on LSD for speeders.

The most effective thing to do would be to get some friends and beat the crap out of him, then drag him to the nearest atm, and make him deduct the maximum he can and give it to you. That way you're covered on the damages. Of course that might attract attention.

Guess I fall on the side of - "time for Prozac" for someone. First off, I live in a city too and parallel park on a regular basis. Dings and scuffs happen - it's part of the deal for not living in the suburbs.

Story one: Right before I sold my hatch, I head firsted into a space b/c it was around a blind corner in a bad part of town (I was there doing charity work). Nicked a car. We worked it out b/c I left a note - but due to his mistake, he thought I gave him a bad phone #. He tracked me down and got my ins. co. involved, but then we settled. Moral: Even if the cops don't know or care, his insurance company would have to hear the claim.

Story two: After my stereo was stolen in Sept., my factory alarm was on the fritz. One day, it went off so many times that I came out and the battery was dead... and someone had taken a key the length of my car, probably b/c it pissed them off. Moral: What kind of an a$$hole does that type of thing - why not report it or let me know?

We have laws for a reason - it's what makes us a civilized society. Besides that, involving his insurance would have gotten you what you wanted (bumper cap & paint) rather than making you go out of pocket. Seriously, think about things before you react. Ever see the movie "Falling Down?" I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it seems you have some temper issues with little things that some of us accept as part of daily life. Sure, some of these things ruin your day, but you don't always have to "show those bastards who's boss"... it is unlikely to work anyway. Glad I don't live in Chicago... mark

I'm just sick of everyone taking their shit out on me and on my car.

And insurance companies will not accept a claim unless the insured reports it to them, and if he doesn't want to, than it's my loss. And the police will laugh their asses off when I ask for a report.

I do have a report pending, a lady backed into me at a light, in traffic, she gave me a bad phone number, i found her insurance company and reported it to them and they said they won't do a thing to contact her and won't do anything for me unless she contacts them herself.

And there was no damage on her car since she backed into me with her license plate screws, so she doesn't give a crap. But I do, and I was really nice to her about it too, tried to reason it out with her, explaining to her that the bumper was just repainted and it cost a pretty f'n penny to match the color. Regardless... she didn't care, gave me a bad phone number, her insurance company doesn't have a phone number for her, they won't try and write her a letter or contact her in any way, and the cops told me that it's not even worth filling out a report but that they'll do it out of politeness. That's something you wanna hear... definitely.
