Ka24de legal question
Hey guys I got a 89 s13 with a ka24de obdII. It has a catback exhaust and that's it (it is moderately loud) . I'm just very nervous about the police because I live in CA and the police are not the nicest. Question: if I get pulled over will my car get impounded?, has anyone on here got pulled over? What am I in for of this happens?
Anything will help, don't wanna lose my baby:/ thank you! |

lol you JUST got into the scene of cars. You will not get it impounded unless you have expired registration, no license, no insurance (depends on the cop. generally just give you ticket, I think), or if it's stolen; Which I hope it isn't. They will give you either one of two things. A fix-it ticket which costs around $50(?) and you just put on the stock exhaust, go to the Police Department and get it signed off. Now, the more likelier of the two, which has been implemented recently, is that you get a exhaust ticket which costs $220 + $120 for a CA ref certificate(which you receive only if you pass the smog examination)
And this should go in the regional section. Don't be a noob search. http://zilvia.net/f/south-western-states/ |

Thankyou for the response lol. And no I have been in the Nissan scene for a while now. It is not stolen, it is registered, and I do have a liscense and insurance. I am just afraid because it is technically not the original engine ex: different vin number.idk if that is a big deal or not.

just shift at low RPMs and you should be fine... or just throw it on neutral when you pass a cop. lol thats what i do. Riverside is the far most anal PD i know.... i got pulled over and was asked to remove my socaldrift.com decal that was located on the bottom of my windshield, because it was obstruction of view.... like really??? lol

Technically putting in any KA in any S chassis is not legally correct. In order for it to be legal, your OBD2KA going to your 89 it should have all the smog stuff and have to be stickered from CA REF.
Of course, to be "legal" in CA, it should visually have the right stuff, SMOG and CAT is a must. Does not matter if the KA is DE or E, it just depends on the cop. Just don't drive like an ass and if your car is hella loud, Tone it down! |
