97 200sx SE Suggestions
Hello everyone, this is my first thread. I kind of wanted to introduce myself to the forum, so hey. My name's Chris and I got my first car not too long ago. A few months ago, I am 17 years old and an s-chassis enthusiast. I was on the hunt for a 5-speed 240sx S13. I wasn't able to find any, and then I came across a 97 200sx SE. I fell in love with it, and even though it's nothing like my dream s13, I had a great deal of respect for it because it was an sx. Ironically enough, I have ran into 9 s13's and 1 s14, in the last 4 months of having my car. Fun. Anyways, I just made this thread to get some input on what you guys would think would be cool for my car. I will update this tomorrow sometime with pictures but right now I don't have my camera files with me. It is a 5-speed, completely stock, GA16DE 1.6L 4Cyl Engine. Woohoo... it's my very own piece of junk. It can get to 113mph at least... LOL I love this car so much even though it's FWD. I was just trying to get some cool ideas on what to do with it. Like get new coilovers, paint it, throw some rims on it, sell it, whatever. I just don't know what to do with it at the moment because I'm tired of commuting it. Sorry for the long post, and thank you for any input that you guys have. NOTE: Please feel free to talk crap about it. It takes a bit to hurt my feelings. |

Hi! Congratulations on getting your first car! I suggest looking up a forum dedicated to your 200sx since this is a s-chassis forum. As for any used car, start by maintaining it and replace any necessary items that are due for replacement. Maybe spark plug, spark plug wires, cap and rotor, belts and so on and you can go from there. Like I said that since this is a s-chassis majority forum, there's not a lot of people that can help you out. Cheers

Are you sure its a GA16DE? I thought they all had SR20DE engines.
Check out SR20forums. I'd look into basic maintenence of suspension components, decent shocks and springs, and later down the line, go with an SR20DET engine swap.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess it's not an s-chassis I figured it was but I can see why I'm wrong considering it's not an s13 or anything.
And yes I'm sure it's a GA16DE the SE-R version of my 200sx comes equipped with the SR20DE. Unfortunately, I have the 1.6L Getting more 40sx sounds superb! I'm going to stick around the forum because I'm still and s-chassis enthusiast, but I'm gonna leave my car out of the conversation. :'( Thanks guys!! |

An S13 hatch was my first car. I was 14. I knew nothing about them, and didn't learn what drifting was for another 3 years. I just bought a Z28 Camaro and I love it, but I want to get my 240 back on the road.

thing about 240's is... If'n you can find one a stock one with a clean chassis, clean frame rails, clean pinch welds, all seam glues no accidents, original headlamp configuration, untouched bumper hardware, etc...
You can drive it as long as you want, then when you are finished, sell it for more than you paid. Because the value of those untouched stock 240's is going up. and up. |
