so just get a xterra starter and bam huh? what year would i ask for by the way and these brackets could i just make them? i kinda got myself in deep with this car since its my first drift car, race car whatever u want to call it and not really thinking about what i bought before hand, thanks for any help

thanks for the replies guys, turns out it was one of the wires on my positive post that was loose or coroded. see i bought a hacked up car that im finding out has alot of issues and so far ive replaced fixed 4 things so far this week.. i no shit about this motor nor car as seeing ive had a 98 neon that i have built for shows over the last 13 years and now i wanted to get into a new hobby..... little did i know what i was getting into. this 240 is discusting fast and scares the shit outta me but its got issues. Now thats its in the hands of someone who cares about it. but now theres a new problem. it has a q45 maf and today its cutting out and jerking all over right around 2500 rpm i sprayed maf cleaner on it to see what happens is there anything i should check for, like i said im new and will have tons of questions to keep u guys busy lol. Sileighty my neons the same color as ur 240 lol

As for the starter you can use a KA starter. Just drill out the threads and slip the bolts through the starter bolt holes and bolt em just like normal. Try it, and let me know if it worked.

as for the MAF. I think you're running rich/lean because of the air/fuel ratio. that's why it cuts off. If you have a stock RB25 you're way off on the MAF. RB25 MAF is 70mm while the z32 is 80mm and last the Q45 which should be 90mm. You would need a fuel controller or something to tune the air/fuel ratio or just buy the RB25 MAF.

Stock fuel pump? The RB needs a bigger one like the walbro 255lph.

We need more specific info like what size injectors as well as what turbo, or just plain stock.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, we're all learning here.

my rb25det series 2 also breaks up at around 2500-3000ish and im running the stock maf... and its in an fd3s. the fd's fuel pump should be able to push more then enough fuel for a fully stock rb25 since they run the same power as the 13b does.

but anything rb related you can find parts at rawbrokerage.com

my start came in with a broken cylinoid though when i ordered it and waited 4 weeks which sucks. luckily it was the same as and rx7 one and same as a 240. so atleast the internals were nice and rebuilt

sick turbo... i have the neo turbo not sure about injectors, maybe stock.Walbro pump, safc2, 6puck racing clutch , not sure about flywheel so i dont wanna put the wrong starter in and blow that apart, but i did find out it was a bad wire going to the starter. also my computer is electrical taped to shit so maybe a wire from the maf came loose, i have to check that after work, thats how they combined the 2 harness, this poor car is a wiring mess with extra sensors just hanging all over.

-NEO turbo is dual BB, and has stronger exhaust housing compared to the stock RB25 turbo which is BB.

-As you mention you have the SAFC2 my guess is that you don't have the stock injectors. Maybe you just need a tune.

-Yes clean up that mofo wiring. lol Check if it's soldered up if not. Do wire by wire and solder them and shrink wrap them. Make better contact and won't come loose if done properly.

-As for the starter this is what I've seen. I hope it helps.

bumping a hella old post, but I'm running a Datsun starter on my RB25...back in 2008 there was a thread on interchangeable parts, and I cross referenced the part numbers, and it came up as a direct bolt on. It was from like a 75 or something like that.
