Ok I've been dealing with this for about a week now. I have an rb25 s2 in my 96 s14. It was an automatic when I bought it. Did the swap, but had chris at CarismaLLC in orlando do the harness. I'm not to good with electrical work. Anyway before I started the IC piping we decided to start the car and see how it ran. Well we had to ground the fuel pump relay to get the fuel pump to work. No problem the car cranked and ran fine. Matter of fact we started it quite a few times. After a couple of weeks of not being able to work on it because of money and work we got the IC piping done and went to start the car and starter was acting up, so got on zilvia and nicoclub and found a replacement. The starter is off of a 1968 nissan datsun spl311. Installed the starter works great but the car would not run. So after 3 days of research I looked at the ecu and saw a diode was burnt. Got 2 more ecus and still no start. I checked power to the CAS and there isn't any. I have no power to the coils either but when I pull the plugs there wet with fuel. I don't understand, it ran changed the starter and nothing wtf. Oh and if anyone hasn't notice the CAS out of a 97 infinity J30 looks exactly the same as the rb25 s2. Can someone please point me in the right direction. I've racked my brain looking at the FSM.
Thanks in advance! |

Does the ECU light come on?
Sounds like your ECU relay isn't getting power, or isn't turning the ECU/sensors on.

you know what i didn't even think about that. only prob is the ecu that came with the swap doesn't have the led light or the diagnose switch but out of the 2 i got from brock864 one of them does. do you think the relay could have gone bad from just sitting? i mean it litteraly sat for no more than 2 weeks b4 i got the new starter.

Find out if your ECU is on, if so, then it sounds like you have a short or disconnect in your CAS wiring.

sounds like you're on the right path...
i'm just gonna throw this out there because it CAN be an issue with the series 2 rb25's.... i don't know why you changed the cam angle sensor, but some of the newer series 2's like the neo's, the cam angle sensor plug will plug right in, but it is wired backwards. if you were to depin the cam angle sensor plug and completely flip around all 4 wires. that's what needs to get done. you would need to do this if you start off with the newer version harness/sensor, then replace that cas with an older version. however this has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING that's going on with your car until you have power going to the ecu and everything else yet you're not getting good signals for your injectors and coil packs to fire. so my advice, straighten out your power supply problems FIRST. put back in the cam angle sensor that you know was working before. check your fuses under the hood, especially the ignition and ecu fuses. once the ecu and all the other components are getting power properly it goes back to diagnosing any other no start problem. do you have fuel? do you have spark? do you have compression? then once you find what you're missing, you'll be able to deduce the next thing to do. if you're not getting injector pulse or coil's firing then it may be something with the CAS or ecu. if you're getting injector pulse, but no coil's firing then your CAS and ecu is working, and you're having a power or ground problem with your coil packs. anywho, sounds like you're on the right path, best of luck, Dave |

Z U L8R I understand what you are saying but I hadn't had a no start issure until the starter took a dump on me. I'll post a picture of why the starter took a dump tomorrow night when I get off work. Once I replaced the starter that's when I had the issue. The car hadn't been touched for a week, no wires were touched or anything. Its just weird it went from turn key and run to turn key and just turn over.

i was thinking if you didn't unplug the battery when changing the starter and maybe the positive cable arched off a ground and popped a fuse or something...i'm fishing for helpful ideas lol.
just keep doin what you're doin. isolate what you don't have, then isolate why = fixing your problem. Dave |

I didn't unplug the battery but all the fuses are good I triple checked all of them. I even checked all the fusable links. Also when I disconnected the starter wire I wrapped it with electrical tape for that purpose. I'm seriously thinking of taking off work tomorrow to sort through the wires instead of waiting til this weekend because this is pissing me off.

Well my problem is solved. It took me a while but she runs again. I sat down with an ohm meter and unplugged my powers and grounds to check for continuity and noticed on my f3/m63 that a couple of the pins weren't all the way in. The only way I noticed is when I grab it to unplug it they popped out in my hand. I reinstalled them, plugged the harness back up and she started on the first hit. Its pretty much stock and I'm gonna keep it that way for about a month. I have an intake on the work bench but I just want to make sure it runs right b4 I start making changes. Thanks for all the input Dave and gsxrjjordan.
