Anyone do the ignition coil hotwire mod?

There's a way to increase voltage from 11.7V at the coil and ECU...

I read this guide

Ignition mod I have been trying out(For external coil) : KA24ET / KA24DET Forum

My question is..... wouldn't this improve fuel economy? if the engine is getting better spark, it can do more with the given amount of fuel...

Looking for as many ways as I possibly can to get better fuel economy off my 94 vert.. So far its 5 speed swapped and I'm getting 20 - 24mpg average. I also sea foamed it, tried gumout, changed fuel filter, air filter is good too.

plugs? cap and rotor? sea foam fuel system, intake system and crank case. Catlyitic converter/o2 sensor also play a big role

I guess that's next on the list.

My cat is original so Im guessing its near plugged. My whole exhaust system is rusting out anyway... Within the next year Im gonna go KA-T, so I think im gonna go straight pipe 3 inch.. I heard that decreases fuel economy though..

If you coolant temp sensor is getting old change that out, I get about 26 in my vert but I don't imagine there is much that can make it get better. Remember it is also heavier then its counterparts so we are stuck trialing a little behind.

You're right. I just changed that haha. but the vert isnt too much heavier. It's like riding with someone who's 5ft 8 in a coupe

Yeah 5'8" and about 300lbs, that is a bit of difference, not much but enough to factor in.

I did this about a month ago. I'm getting battery voltage at the coil now. The car idles better now and I did see a slight improvement in fuel economy and overall performance. I highly recommend this modification. I was only getting 11.2 VDC at the coil before.
