2003? 2004? Come on guys…you can do better than that….really? 2003?
I am OG. I got my first 240sx at 16/17 in 1992. I’ve seen it all. Styles come, styles go. It’s never changing. One thing I can tell you does stay the same….it is and always will be a money pit. I’ve developed a test of sort. If you don’t know these peoples last names. Trust me. You are not old school. These people (and countless others) pioneered the 240sx way of life. Most have moved on, but in strange ways a connection will always be there. (in no particular order other than what I could remember) Abe Mikey Alex Wayne Andy and Vspec Willey Don Luigi Santos Jeff Sam Ryan Omar Richard Simon TY Hugh Yury James Asad Diego Ahh before I begin…jeffs cwest kit was inspiring….when everyone else was sporting stock. He had the real deals on his car. Ok my contribution: Earliest pic I could find with a date. I have some 1992 pics but none with dates on them. Pics of the very first 240sx meeting EVER. Rare indeed as I think I was the only one who brought a camera. If you look close you might recognize some faces. Ok here are old pics of the my vert with kaminari kit I may have been the first to play with the front headlights without a prebought kit…. Then with some other stuff…. Then came another coupe. Then came yet another coupe…Been working on this car for a long time….still working on it. Went from this…. to this…. p.s. another test if you are OG. It took me 2 hours to resize and upload and host and all the other shit. If it takes you that long…your probably old school too… .lol….SOB…I need to take a typing class….. Harp |

03 is OG for some people because they were like 15 in 03. If you want people to post who owned cars in 93 then this should be retitled "the 30+ year olds that owned S13s when they were created thread".

I'm glad I finally have backup for the "2003-2004 just doesn't cut it for this thread" thing. If you are like me and have been into 240's since the late 90's, but were too broke to buy one, then come in here and swap stories. Pics just don't qualify though unless they are circa 2002 at the latest or are to show your progression over the years. Hell I think most of the REAL old skool guys have moved on. |

I mean Brian H.... you do have a point. Everyone has their own version of Nostalgia. Some of us (well...most of us) were still in grade school when the S chassis was an uncool thing to have.
For me, I remember dancing in my living room when i was 17...when I got my first S13 (just a shell). I was so excited just to own one. I now know...im a lifer. I could never leave this scene...I'll always have a nissan, and prob always an S chassis in my driveway/garage. I look at it this way, I'm only in my early 20's...I've spent almost a quarter of my life building and loving these cars. Its what helped shape me as a person, who i associate myself with, and even my career. Remembering the day that changed how my life would be led, makes me feel someone nostalgic and appreciative of these cars.

I got the same thing but i wanted an S14. I finally got mine when i graduated (saved up and up and up). I'll have to scan some pics of it. Paint was perfect, i waxed her every day. Only mod at the time was an Injen intake and a Le Bra!!! I have no clue why i thought a Bra was cool for a car!?!?!?

That car is the reason I went with the Silvia front, with Aero Bumper, and bugged the goofy looking guy in the middle to find me an EastBear lip for it. I wish I had purchased my 240 sooner, and met all the cool kids. But there were a couple things stopping me. First off, in 2000 I was still heavy into my ricer days, building useless cars and revving my engine at everything that moved, until the car got totaled. Second, Im still in the middle of no where on the East Coast.

funny, i dont think people have a real understanding how influential certain people and certain shops were back in the day. people like sam, richard and wayne really created an epicenter of car culture (no, not like the scion brand bullshit) but an overall sense of community for folks to meetup, hang out, buy rare parts, etc. as anti-everything i am, i even managed to have several events at my old shop for folks on the socal240 list. amazing how things have changed though. |

I wanted a Zenki S14 in HS. I remember seeing ads in MotorTrend and just thinking in was the hotness. I was po' back then and I was just dreamin.
It wasn't until I got sick of buying whack ass cars that I decided to buy something legit. Did mad research and stumbled on Zilvia when it looked like this. I made a bunch of terrible newb posts (shit I still do) and bought my first 240 shortly after. Rolled around stock as fuck fo'ever. I preferred Auto-X and never really got into drifting with my 240. Then this shit. And since we're reminiscing I have to post a couple of my favorite 240 pics from back in the day. This is Simba's car IIRC. And I always loved this pic. Which I believe is Mike's car...correct? And since he didn't post it himself...

Its funny how everybodys talking about how close knit the 240 scene was late 90s and early 2ks. I remember having my own close knit group of 240 guys up in the Tri-state. NJ, NY and Philadelphia cats. We used to drive up Queens, have dinner every 3rd fridays of the month and go on a lil cruise. I miss those fucking days...you dont have to worry about people ganking your shit, pop your hood, having a fucking intake on your KA was the shit!!! Well okay but you get the idea...
Aftermarket Parts readily available for a 240sx back then was a pain in the fucking ass to find. No real turbo kit, everything was piece together. Rev-hard log type manifold was the only manifold available for the KA. Anybody still remember the great Greddy KA Manifold?!?! I lost track of how many times I had to reweld that piece of shit... |

Aaaahhhhhhhh, the yellow s-13! I remember that car, it was one of the cars that really inspired me. I remember oogling that thing on jspec.com back in the day! I never did understand why it was sold though. It showed up in an issue of turbo magazine after it was sold too, I still have that issue.
