been having the Molcajete dish a lot recently

$20 for a big serving (for 2) of steak, chicken, chorizo, shrimp, green onions, cheese, & cactus.
All in a spicy light tomato sauce.

I love Subway in the States. It's so much cheaper there, than up here.
And there are some different ingredients offered there than in Canada.

Honestly that was the only pic I could find.
I get mine in "El Pescador" in Los Angeles, around the Eagle Rock area.

I have a more detailed review on Yelp
http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-pescador-...nt-los-angeles

Thanks for suggesting Gloria's though.
I will have to try it sometime.

Here's another favorite:

Argentine Mixed Grill: filled with skirt steak, sirloin, thick-cut rib steaks (different from the thin Kalbi cut), sausages, & sweetbreads (gland).
South American Chimmichiri sauce is usually also avail (although imo, quite unnecessary)
All served over a grill on the table.

we gorged ourself on raw fish, then we went outside and basked in the sun, like walruses

this place is hardcore, anything on the menu is covered in the 25/all you can eat (25 is the highest tier, there's two lower tiers, i think 15 gets you all you can eat rolls), rolls nigiri sashimi whatever you want, and they just keep coming back and taking your order over and over, making it as you go, until you can't eat anymore.. then the server mocks your pathetic eating ability and you go about your day
i mean, i paid 25 bucks and ate what would have come up to like 80 if ordered ala carte, i was proud of myself, but they were all like "FUCK YOU AMERICAN, TRY HARDER NEXT TIME".

edit: here's their online menu, but yeah, you can get sashimi too, my buddy just ate a huge pile of fish, no rice

It's you.

None of that is deconstructed anything, near as I can tell. Something is only "deconstructed" when you take a composition dish (i.e. Coq Au Vin, or Lasagna, or Chili) and then serve all the components separately in some hopes of making a play on the flavor of the original.

All I know is that I see foie gras, which means it's A-OK by me.

Anyway, Hawaiian food kicks fucking ass. Spam Musubi, plate lunches, laulau, loco moco, etc. I make curry loco moco at home and it's bomb.

It was a 9 course menu, hence the small portions.

Best food I've ever eaten. 2 michelin stars and it showed (or tasted should I say). It does look a bit out of place in this greasefest of a thread though.

no but seriously what's a michelin star, it seems i learn something new about europe every day thanks to this board.

Michelin Stars are given out to restaurants in the Michelin Guide, which is an annual publication from Michelin (yes, tire company) that rates restaurants around the world.

They've been a little slow to pick up in the US, but the Michelin Red Guide is the oldest and best Euro restaurant rater, and so three Michelin stars (out of three) in, say, France, really means something. In the US, it isn't widespread enough yet and so just because you don't have a rating doesn't mean you're not a killer restaurant.

Anyway, the head chef of my favorite local place (Volt) is on Top Chef right now as a finalist (Bryan Voltaggio). I give him pretty good odds to win it.

EAT A BURGER YALL. AINT YALL BE FRYIN UR FOOD?
no but seriously what's a michelin star, it seems i learn something new about europe every day thanks to this board.
As wangan said, its a rating system for the Michelin guide. Wiki explains it better than I could:

Quote:
The guide awards one to three stars to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality. Stars are awarded sparingly; for instance, in the UK and Ireland 2004 guide, out of 5,500 entries, there are 98 with one star ("a very good restaurant in its category"), 11 with two stars ("excellent cooking, worth a detour"), and only 3 with three stars ("exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey").
A 3-star Michelin ranking is exceedingly rare. Only 26 3-star restaurants exist in France, and only 81 in the world.[6]
Since 1955, the guide has also highlighted restaurants offering "good food at moderate prices", a feature now called "Bib Gourmand". They must have a menu priced at no more than £28 in the case of the UK, or €40 in Ireland. The name comes from Bib (Bibendum), the Michelin Man, Michelin's logo for over a century.
