2008 Beijing Summer Olympics Thread
http://en.beijing2008.cn/
August 8-24 I'm looking forward to this year's Olympics just because of the fact that I get to see basketball again. The only other sports I watch are swimming, track and field, and gymnastics (yes, it's pretty fun watching lol). |

I wish the Olympics were popular like they were when I was a kid.
It's all everyone talked about. Now it seems as unexceptional as a Space Shuttle launch. Something else that has gone unnoticed for a few years now. With that being said. I will be watching as many events as I deem interesting this year, which should be quite a few of them.

i will definitely be watching the track and field stuff. I train with a few guys that are going to the trials and i hope to be in the trials for 2012 myself. For the record, the American Olympic trials is harder than the actual Olympic games. The sprints are gonna be INTENSE. Also the relays between us and Jamaica. I cant wait!!! Definitely be on the look out for some record breaking times!
My predictions Mens 100m - Tyson Gay - USA Womens 100m - Veronica Campbell - JAM Mens 200m - Tyson Gay - USA Womens 200m - Alison Felix - USA Mens 400m - Jeremy Wariner - USA He'll walk away with it. Womens 400m - I dunno Mens 4x100m Relay - USA Our third leg got smacked in the face by an opposing team during a hand off and we still got 4th. Womens 4x100m Relay - JAM Mens 4x400m Relay - USA Womens 4x400m Relay - Its a toss up IMO. |

Fuck swimming don't wanna watch that shit and thats the main shit they show, so not gunna be watching the olympics except maybe basketball and soccer (if they show) but really people should be boycotting it.

Olympics..especially summer olympics ALWAYS remind me of Homer doing the same dance as the boxer on TV when he won food from Krusty Burrger
and Winter always reminds me of Cool Runnings don't ask me why, I don't even know myself

My sprint coach went through 3 consecutive olyimpic trial years and the year he was going to actually go they boycotted. And he said the exact same thing. "All it did was fuck it up for us. It didnt change a damn thing" were his words. He was still on Team USA so they just competed in europe like the usually did during the year, but not going to the Olympics was still a bummer. |

I think also the reason why Olympics are big in the US is because there isn't enough television coverage. Secondly, there are a lot of fat people in the US that just aren't interested in Sports....

I saw a commercial for the Olympics, and they said they will be shown on 7? different channels, some in HD (where available) and it looked like they might actualy have extended coverage so you can actually watch the events that interest you, not the prime-time stuff.

I think having only Howard and Boozer could be a problem. Never know who can get hurt. |
