short shifter tough and heavy to shift?
i just bought a B&M short shifter and installed it.
my question is...why is it so hard/tough/heavy to shift but its short shift ..is good !!!! i installed it properly..... i did not remove the plastic cover of the ball point on the other end of the shifter that goes in the bottom..... its not like shifting smooth and light....is that normal for a stock tranny....flywheel and clutch ? what should i do to make the shifting light and easy...? it feels like evrytime i shift its heavy and little hard......but always falls on right gear(noprob) its just that its not easy and light..... thanks for the advice |

Yea. A short shifter makes things a bit more precise and tight. Its more of an effort to put it in because the overall 'height' is reduced and thus require more force.
In other words, because its shorter in height, you lose the leverage of a taller stock shifter. |

I have a B&M with a Shifter collar and it feels tight as hell, but I don't think it should feel "heavy." My B&M is shorter throw with same effort, unless you guys have super sensitive hands
Maybe you installed it backwards? |

You can try realigning your shifter and make sure all the parts (gaskets, seals, etc.) are there. If nothing else you can try to seal up the gap(s) with some tape. |

Just a shot in the dark but check to make sure that the rubber boot is installed. When I changed my clutch and tested it out without the boot on it made a similar sound.

That's how short shifters are.
I can actually turn my shifter off/adjust the height and make it feel like a stocky haha.

Yeah man, it took me a while to get used to the B&M over stock. I did put a bigger Slave Cyl in when i did the swap though...but that only helps with pedal feel not the throw of the shifter.
Check to make sure nothing is wedged in there maybe...a dead mouse or something haha |
