Ugh still no spark. A friend and I went through nearly all the troubleshooting steps in the FSM before bailing in favor of late night Chinese food.
What I've confirmed: - Everything is getting power that should - Everything is grounded that should - All sensors passed their tests |

So my car still doesn't run, but that doesn't stop others from shredding. Here's my vid from last weekend's Pocono Bash event:
Thanks for watching!

I reached back out to Martin from RS Enthalpy for help a few weeks ago, and he invited me to ship him the ECU for testing. Well turns out that my ECU wasn't working properly even though it was able to power some functions of the car and display fault codes. He's going to try and repair it, so I'll either be good to go with the original or have to buy a new ECU.
Either way, I'm relieved to finally have nailed down the issue.

Timing is everything!
So after the initial rush of having the car start, I had time to analyze why it sounded like shit. Turns out the distributor was one tooth off. It's neat how that works.
Soon my friends!

So I'm still working out a couple bugs with the car breaking up at WOT. I've closed the spark plug gap down to .025 from .035 which helped, and I've also re-set the ignition timing closer to the 20dbtc mark which also helped.
All in all the car feels significantly better throughout the rev range as long as I'm not pressing the gas pedal all the way down. I haven't had the chance yet to get it on a long enough stretch of road to test holding boost so that's my next move. I'm also thinking it might just be time to bite the bullet and find a dyno tuner that can make real-time adjustments or at least point out what I've done wrong.

i PM'd you. i think you might need a different standalone/Tune or Tuner. do you have a wideband o2 sensor to monitor AFR's? thats the most important other than oil pressure and water temp...

Almost a year ago today I spotted this piece of junk outside a local service station with chopped wires, no drivetrain, and rust for days. It's fought me every step along the way to this first fill up, but at least now I know the gas gauge works

So I haven't updated in a while, but one major change has taken place recently:
Although the KA24DET was finally running ok, I eventually lost the motivation to keep investing more and more time and money into sorting out the little things. The drivetrain is sold, and I'm taking a short break to re-evaluate power plant options.

Goes from running driving car to engine he needs to dump several thousand more dollars in just to fit in the car...
Should have just run it and got some seat time. You're going to have a ton of chassis sorting issues when you first start out driving, and now you're just delaying them so you can put a 250hp V8 in it...
