have a battery tray that is old and rusted & it cracked & was wondering if i should just weld a new piece or do they just bolt off & i could put a new battery tray?

Its a pain in the ass to pull those off, no bolts to undo either. Pull that garbage off and relocate it for better weight distribution.

There are a handful of Spot Welds holding that tray on.
Drill them out, remove the tray, makes life easier to run FMIC piping also.
