VLSD install help!
Ok, so my 90 240sx has an open diff no suprise. I bought a 1993 240sx parts car (smashed roof) that has an immaculate working VLSD. I know you can simply swap them, but does anyone know any links on a step by step. I used search and no luck as well as google. All i get is how to change your diff to j30 etc. I am new at this so just a simple tutorial on how to replace a diff would be great. Thanks

You should not need to swap over the driveshafts and should be able to reuse your existing driveshafts on the shell, but if you find that your VLSD doesn't line up with your driveshafts, you can swap over the entire driveshafts from the donor. Also depending if the VLSD has ABS or not, you may or may not need to work the propeller shaft to fit. If the stock propeller shaft doesn't fit, call DriveShaft Shop for a 1piece. TIP: change your diff fluid with the diff out of the car. Much easier. Swap the drain plug on the gearbox on the donor with the filler plug on the diff on the shell. |

i just swapped in a s14 vlsd into my 90 hatch, i already had a driveshaft from my sr front clip so all i had to do was change fluids and rear cover and i fabbed some solid mounts for the two bolts up front. if its for a s13 it will swap right in. should only take a hour or so to do
