So this is probably a really dumb question but is there anyway to get the heater to turn on with out the climate control?

The reason I ask is because its mid winter in Colorado and my car doesnt have the climate control and my wallet doesnt have the money to buy one.

Possible? Yes, but more work than its worth. You would essentially have to wire your own switches for the door motors and the blower. Honestly your better off buying a used unit off of Ebay, even better do the JDM climate control setup its a pretty simple swap there are FAQs online. If your feeling adventurous the circuit diagram is on page 746, it shows what the motors are looking for as far as a wiring a switch.
