Exactly. This movie actually thrilled me. It sucked me in bitch slapped told me to stay in my seat and wouldnt let me get up till it was over. I think this is the first movie I have ever been to where NO ONE left one it started.

so i found this:

HOLLYWOOD - Johnny Depp is tipped to play Batman villain The Riddler in the next installment of the comic book movie series.

After the huge success of The Dark Knight, which has taken $440 million at the worldwide box office, producers are confident they can convince Depp to take on Christian Bale's Batman on the big screen.

And, according to the National Enquirer, studio bosses also want Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman onboard to play another of the Caped Crusader's arch-foe, the Penguin.

The Riddler was played on the small screen in the 1960s by Frank Gorshin and in 1995 movie Batman Forever by Jim Carrey. Hoffman would be stepping into the shoes of TV and movie Penguins Burgess Meredith and Danny DeVito.

A source tells the Enquirer, "(Producers) are convinced that the role of the Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny's a pro. He'll be able to take direction from director Chris Nolan and still make the character his own.

"And what better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman."

have to say.... not too thrilled about Penguin. but then again, like i've said before Nolan and Goyer ROCK so i'm sure they wont let fans down.

also just read that Angelina Jolie wants to be the next Catwoman (if they ever decide to include Catwoman in a script).

looks like everyone is hyped up about tEh BAtmAn

I'm sure everyone had their doubts about Heath taking on the Joker role, but they, including myself, were proved wrong. Now Depp is a good actor, I have no doubt he'll tear it up. Not sure if Hoffman would fit with the role of Penguin, but then again I may be proved wrong again haha.

And Angelina as Catwoman? I'll pee tears of joy with a 100% erection level if that's confirmed.

right on.... right on....

that was in no way directed towards Hoffman himself. i guess i was just never fond of the Penguin character all together. like i've said though, Goyer is amazing. i'm sure the script will kick all forms of ass.

and its not confirmed if Catwoman will even make it into the script. but.... Angelina has stated that she wants to be Catwoman if they ever do include the character.

we shall wait and see what awesomeness lays ahead.

Titanic's Been Unsinkable...Until Dark Knight?

Wednesday July 30 6:51 PM ET

by Joal Ryan

Los Angeles (E! Online) - Ten years after sailing off with $600.8 million, Titanic remains the top-grossing movie of all-time, a title which, up until The Dark Knight onslaught, hasn't been seriously challenged.

Why?

Statistically speaking, says Jeffrey Simonoff, borrowing a famous line from screenwriter William Goldman, "Nobody knows."

"Many people have noted if the stock market is a high-risk market, the movies is far riskier," says Simonoff, professor of statistics at New York University's Stern School of Business.

Huge opening weekends and great buzz certainly increase a movie's odds of making lots and lots of money, but beyond that, Simonoff argues, it's all guesswork.

"What Titanic had was the amazing word of mouth that just kept growing and growing," Simonoff says. "[But] it wasn't like after the second weekend people could say this is going to be the No. 1 movie for the next three months."

Actually, Titanic was the No. 1 movie at the weekend box office for about three-and-a-half months, or 15 weeks, the second-longest run in the top spot after E.T., which logged 16 weeks there in 1982.

To Vicki Kunkel, author of upcoming Instant Appeal: The 8 Primal Factors That Create Blockbuster Success, movies that play on and on and on, like Titanic, are the cinematic equivalent of potato chips—one viewing is not enough

"Titanic pretty much had all the elements that light up the endorphins on the brain," says Kunkel. "Anything that makes us feel good is addictive."

If all blockbuster movies contain like elements, Kunkel points out, then Titanic had all the right elements, including a love story (see: Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack and Kate Winslet's Rose), a self-sacrificing heroine (see: Rose spurn her rich fiancé, Billy Zane's Cal, for poor Jack) and a clear-cut battle between good and bad (see: Jack take on Cal).

Kunkel finds a couple of these key elements, especially the conflict between good and evil, at play in The Dark Knight. She doesn't, however, foresee another bag of potato chips. Or, more precisely, a bigger bag of potato chips.

"We relate more to real people than we do to superheroes," Kunkel says. "And that's when the real addictiveness happens, when we have a deep primal connection."

Christopher Sharrett, professor of communications and film studies at Seton Hall University, thinks there could be a different kind of connection going on between the seriously dark Dark Knight and today's moviegoers.

"It's ripped out of the headlines," Sharrett says. "It's something that appeals to a cynicism of the population."

More than that, Sharrett thinks the untimely death of Heath Ledger, so prominent in The Dark Knight as iconic villain The Joker, is the film's X factor—the something different that, as he sees it, distinguishes the superhero-action movie from all the other recent superhero-action movies.

But does that add up to The Dark Knight moving from $400 million, its certain next stop, all the way to Titanic's $600 million neighborhood?

"For what it's worth," Simonoff says, "I would certainly say it wouldn't be surprising given the way things look like now."

Then again, he says, it wouldn't be surprising if it fell $100 million short.
Says Simonoff: "You can never know for sure."

Up until its release, after all, Titanic was considered a $200 million gamble. Until it paid off. And off. And off.

So what do you guys think you think The Dark Knight will make it past 400 mill

David Goyer Talks ‘Batman 3′

With the success of The Dark Knight there’s a good chance Christopher Nolan, David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan will be getting a phone call from Warner Bros. some time soon asking them to free up their schedule and start thinking about ‘Batman 3′, ‘The Dark Knight 2′ or whatever you want to call it until an official title is announced. Luckily for Warner Bros, David Goyer and co have already been talking about it.
“I think that’s the scariest thing – to think, could we come up with a third movie that was as good as the first two? Can we top ourselves?” screenwriter David Goyer asked aloud, almost rhetorically, in a recent conversation with MTV News. “Doing it a third time would be a big proposition.”
Make no mistake about it, though, a third film HAS been discussed, Goyer confessed, revealing that, while nothing is concrete, both a villain and a theme have been bandied about.
“We’ve only talked loosely about it, though, Chris and I,” Goyer said
The fact that Goyer has a theme he wants to keep in mind for a possible “Batman 3? means he also has a direction, a crisis, and, yes, a villain.
So what is it?
“I have one,” Goyer said laughing. “But I’m not going to tell you. Chris is very particular about that.
“I do think, though, that if there’s not a third film – these two movies stand on their own,” he added. “I think it could go either way.”

and...... cue the music

That's a terrible idea.

Catwoman is supposed to be a villain isn't she? Jessica Alba can't even play a good hero (see Fantastic 4).

Jessica Alba as Catwoman? Fuck no, her acting is definetely sub-par and would bring me out of the movie going experience. I'd much rather have Angelina Jolie.

Either way, I think they should end it now.

Finally saw the movie yesterday...one thing that is boggling my mind since late last night...HOW THE FUCK DID THEY DO TWO-FACE's face?!?! It's sunken in so its not a mask or make up...

As far as bringing in the Penguin...why? Penguin is just a 2 bit thief that has absolutely nothing going for himself. Thats what always distinguished the Joker over any other villain in Batman, he does things for himself. Money is not always the motivation...he just does things cuz. Next thing behind the Joker, is the Riddler. He always wants to show off his intellect, show the cops how far ahead of them he is, while committing his crime. After those 2, then its fucking Clayface and Two-face. Both has the whole I lost soul thing going for them. You cant really tell if they just need help or theyre really off the edge like the Joker.
