s13 92 240sx right hand drive silvia conversion and w/ v8 swap?

Hey guys,
i just bought a rust free 92 240sx that was rhd converted with a silvia conversion in denver pa for 1800$.The car was very clean, and it already had all the rhd interior, and i have a built up 289 hi po v8 out of a 68 mustang with a toploader 4 speed manual that will be going in next week after i get a clutch for the tranny. i figured it will be pretty unique as u never see anybody with a rhd silvia clone v8 conversion. after the v8 swap i also want to do a rear mounted turbo setup. i already have everything including a t4 70trim turbo. did i pay too much for the car or was it a good buy?

post pics of the car and we can really let you know if 1800 was too much for a rhd 240

though i agree with the v8 bad assery... I think you should leave the vintage v8's in the vintage cars. put a 308 from a newer mustang and turbo the shit out of that.

yea i will go to my shop and take some pics for u guys.
i wanted to take the simplest route to making some decent power. thats why i went with my vintage hi-po 289. its carbureted by a holley 650 double pumper, only needs 3 wires for the starter and the 3 wires to the voltage regulator and your in business. i didnt want to go fuel injected, cuz of the headache with hooking up the huge engine harness and brain box. i want to use this as a daily as much as i can and i wanted the engine bay clean as possible so i wire tucked away the sr20 harness as much as i could because i wont be needing it except for all my lights and signals.the motor i am using is a a 289 bored .030 over, eagle rods, 3 angle valve job, ported and decked .025, cp pistons, weiand street warrior intake, bbk headers, msd hei distributor. toploader 4 speed. custom y pipe to breathe through hks hi power 3" exhaust. the only major fabricating will be the motor mounts and tranny mounts, followed by the 240 driveshaft coupler welded to the mustang driveshaft. i have already altered the 240 clutch pedal bracket to accept the mechanical mustang clutch pedal and cable.

ok first... a 60's era vintage 289 was a piece of trash, every one knows the 351 and the 428 were the motors to get. EVEN THE TURBO 4 OUT OF THE FOX BODY MADE MORE POWER!!!!
second, what are you? 89 years old? stuck in your ways old man? served in WWI and WWII ?
you want to use it as daily as possible so you are going to use a 650 cfm double pumper carb? that shit is fucking outdated
you want simpleist as possible? keep the car stock.
dude if you want cool vintage then do slant6 IN a first gen mustang..

... brain box...

okay, i agree that keeping it stock would have been an option, if i would have got the car with a motor in it. the "vintage" 289 hi po that i have is a k-code, had 315 whp and 331 ft-lbs of torque Bone stock. look it up asshole. the reason i am doing a ford swap is because the chevy ls1 swaps are way over done.and id rather have a ford motor because it pisses people off just like you to see something done different. these "vintage" motors are still around because you can beat these old motors till there on fire, and then still be able to rebuild them. ive had sr20s and ka-t's before and i think theyre great. but i always believed that simpler is better, and this car is going to be drifted hard, and ran at the track and ford motors can be rebuilt extremely cheap and in a couple hours.

There's a few rhd v8 silvias around already on silviav8.com mostly in Europe and Australia though.

uhh 68's did not have k code 289
the 68 289 was rated at 195 hp
the 67 289 had the k code and was rated at 271hp
Unless your talking Shelby GT350... which means that motor is worth a pretty penny to not be modified.
but i'm not exactly the mustang expert i just heard about mustangs 8 hours a day for 3 years at my last job by real muscle car enthusiast.

LOL! wrong person! I have a 96 240sx with flip up headlights, with vq35de out of a maxima. I know what different is, and it doesn't piss me off. Look I like different cars and different motor swaps. If you want to do a carbureted turbo v8 be my guest, i'm just saying that there are better carbs and better v8's for that to be done with. I'm just curious as why you are dead set on that particular v8. Don't like chevy v8's? thats great, then choose the ford equivalent of LS1. Don't like fjord? go japanese v8 like the vh45 or the 1uze/2uzefe.

Look, maybe I didn't make my self clear. Great choose Ford v8 that is fine, but choose one that isn't a piece of garbage and weighs like 500ish pounds and mate it to a granny tranny.

Build a v8 rhd silvia with what ever motor you chose, but don't say turbo, double pumper carb, simplicity, and dailydrivable in your plans unless its a carb turbo v8 that is neither simple or daily drivable.

though if you are doing this because you just so happen to have the engine, the trans, the turbo, the carb laying around and you just want to use all the stuff because it would be cheaper than investing in building up the motor you have in the car or buying a better motor to do all this with then you should of just said so. because convenience is a big factor that you may be leaving out.

a few years ago, i bought a extremely wrecked shelby gt350 mustang, the body wasnt salvageable at all so i yanked the motor and trans and then they sat in my garage collecting dust for 3 years. i know the motor is worth alot of $ but id rather use it than sell it. it was more of a convenience factor than anything else really. i dont have any problems with chevy v8s at all. i had tons of chevys and the main reason why i didnt go chevy is cause there distributors are on the back of the motor, and i have a completely smoothed rhd firewall that i didnt want to have to change to make room for the distributor. fords distributor is on the front of the motor which makes things alot easier. also the the chevy trannys have much bigger bell housing and i didnt want to have to butcher the tranny tunnel to make room.

wow thats pretty sick lookin, i also have a s13 silvia hatch with a s15 sr20 blacktop that
i might sell to get a friends 68 eleanor clone project. it has a 428 super cobra jet.
but the rhd should be pretty sweet. i have to find out how much it will cost to get a
240 driveshaft made to adapt to the 4 speed.
