steering issues? what can this be?

Ok so here's what just started happening yesterday... I turn on the car and i hear a small whining sound coming from the belts or under it. I pull the throttle and the whine gets louder but not "LOUD". When I turn the steering wheel from side to side this whine becomes even more apparent but in an uneven noise pattern with what sounds like scraping metal. It's even affecting my belts because they fluctuate in rpm's with the turning of the steering wheel.

I replaced my rack and pinion a month ago with jeorge. (JG)

What can this be? and can it be dangerous to drive?

Thanks guys for any ideas.

Yup yup P/S pump. You need to check fluid levels, most likely they're low. The noise you hear is air in the pump/lines.
