The Only time I could ever find myself using a roof rack is probably for Surfing! Thats pretty practical on my end. Its just a bitch just having that sand in the car.

ive been planing to get one for a while. i ride a lot and with my trunk mount strappy thing the bike is like 2 inches off the ground and bounces off of it occasionally. which in turn busts my tail lights out with the pedal. i think it looks alright. but i wouldnt run it all day every day.

I've used a trunk strap mount on the back of a 240 and the bike had plenty of clearance as long as you adjust it properly. And just wrap the pedal with a towel or something.

Sounds to me like you're doing it wrong.

I could go offroading in my S13 with 3 bikes on the trunk rack, and none of the bikes would move independently from the rack. Proper strapping is key.
