well, the scamp i was looking at was a pile of fuck.
so now i'm planning to check this one out in person on sunday. '73 scamp, slant six/auto, super six intake/2bbl, split header for true duals, air conditioning, and 98k on the clock. it's on its second owner. standard quarter rust and the paint job is oxidized all over, but that's fine, because it's purple, and purple sucks. his craigslist ads say he's looking for 3k, but i googled "slant six scamp" and a fucking VID of his exact car popped up, and the description says 2300. i might lowball and ask 2k for it. it looks very nice. here's the vid YouTube - 1973 Plymouth Scamp i really don't enjoy that glasspack sound. some flowmaster 40's would be a great improvement, i think. buy this, sell my acura, spend some of the leftover cash on new mufflers, fixing the rust properly, a good stereo, and a bitchin' charcoal paint job.

IMHO glasspacks sound like shit...alot of newbs/rednecks in the domestic scene try to put them on F-bodys or Mustangs and I have never heard glasspacks on a car and thought "that sounded awesome". Not only do they sound shitty, they don't flow worth a damned either. If you want a cheap decent muffler I say go with either flowmaster 2 or 3 chambers depending on how loud you want it.

this would be a daily, and it's also a slant six so it's not really going to sound impressive ever anyway, but i'd still like a little rumble... what's the next step quieter from a 40 series?

Be ready to run into a bunch of piles of shit that you do not want to mess with. I bought my camaro solid as hell for $5700 and still ended up putting a shit ton of money into it to make it new again... Just letting you know you need to be careful when buying older/classic cars. so many pple out their now halfass building shit to where after a month it falls apart

checking this out this week. it's '66 Valiant 100 sedan, $300. doesn't run, needs rear glass. if nothing else i'll do some body work and respray it for practice. i want to paint it like this, but gray body/white roof.

I just wish I had a few extra dollars right now. I would jump the fuck all over this. Paint it Candy Apple Red or Sky Blue with a White roof. Plus some kind of cheap small block v8.

lol, i'd just wait and find a 74ish duster man... decent looking, and you dont have to bend over on the price...plus most of them had the decent 318 in them w/ 4 speed so you can chirp around a bunch

if i ever move south, where there's no winter and consistant nice weather. im getting a 280, and putting it on air.
unrestored, stock hubcaps, etc. drive it, park it, dump it.

the SEL's with the verticle stacked headlights are the shit. i always say 280 because they are pretty common, and cheaper. beat to fuck is the best part though. leave it all stock and unrestored. just put it on the ground.

yea, the engine seems fairly easy to take care of and might be reliable. thing that gets me is it has a 12qt dry sump sytstem on it. kinda surprising for a early 70's sedan. and apparantly the thing hauls ass with the 6.3.
